FFXIV using up 63.68 gb of application memory

Hi,

I have an imac 27" 2019, with 8GB memory

whenever i try to open up FFXIV it tries to tell me to force quit the application because 'the system as run out of application memory'

it shows that ffxiv is using up 63.69 GB of application memory

just wondering if this is natural and if not how to solve it, I'm stuck at the stage where i have to select a service account
