dLVL - Forgive me for being so naive!

    MAX/MIN MAX/MIN MAX/MIN

    All day lo~ong ♫

So I've been reading up stat research lately!

Only problem is that... I'm a little undereducated with the terms being used...

Kanican (Kaeko Leta of Aegis) and his community have done some fantastic research but he keeps using the term dLVL and I have no idea what it means!

Can somebody please explain this to me?

Here's a helpful yet confusing graph to see the term in action!

    Curse you X axis.

I could be completely wrong but I think it is the difference in level between you and whatever it is you are fighting. In the test, it seems they used a L50 character and as an example from the graph I would say that what it is showing you is the amount of bonus you get from a critical hit based on the difference in level between your character and the target.

So just eyeballing the graph it seems to say that if you are 20 levels higher than the target (dLVL -20) a critical hit will cause about 175% of base damage, if you are both the same level it will deal about 120% base damage with no other enhancements.

It means the difference in level you are to the mob. It states that crit dmg bonus is capped at 175% and floored at 115% for a dLVL (difference in level) +5~

The word derivative is just not right.

d in dLVL just mean difference. This has nothing to do with derivative.

dLVL = (mob lvl) - (player lvl)

the "d" in dLVL was meant to stand for delta, as in "the change in". Too difficult to find the little Greek triangle or I would use that instead. To call it a derivative would not make sense mathematically. I didn't coin the term - I use old "language" from one of the original XI stat testing sites Studio Gobli.

If it helps, you can say 'Level Delta' or

    ΔLVL
