    Please change this SE

Why must I complete the quests of all three companies to be accepted into the one that I want? It's pointless. The three quest lines are nearly identical, that mage guy's dialogue is even recycled. In fact, if you want to join the Maelstrom, you have to sabotage an operation that you later are sent to oversee, after you've already sabotaged it, creating a weird time-space contradiction. The whole thing is maddening! I've been trying to power through it because I want my chocobo, but the gauntlet of boring identical quests makes me want to claw my eyes out. Please everyone sign this thread. Make this madness stop!

And your grandparents beat the Nazi's, but they're not asking you to do it. I'm fully aware that this won't get changed before I've completed it, but for the sake of my alts, and my alt's alts, there must be change! Freedom! Apple pie! Ect!

It would be nice to be able to sign up with a company without having to tour the others. (mostly in the case of two alts to experience the other two storylines).

I would just like the quests not to be identical. Having to do the quests for all of them is fine since it's a permanent choice. You need to see them all and make a well-informed decision.

The only reason why I have not created an alt is I have no desire to do all the Grand Company Quests again.

It also adds to the lore of the world, hearing the dialog for each city state. Get the leg work done. You've never played FFXI have you... the hassel in getting a simple airship pass....good times ^^

Yes I played XI since it came to the United States until more than a few months after Abyssea. Since then I have grown up and devoted a lot less of my time to gaming.

To use the airship example I did the quest one time for one of the three nations. It took time but I did not do the exact same thing over at each nation to get my pass. I ran up a bunch of stairs with my friend, sat and watched as they killed a giant. I had escape cast and let out the trapped ambassador. Afterwards I ran all over the world and collected magicite.

In XIV I join the grand company I am given a task of investigating. I go there and get a mini fight. I do two other quests exploring the danger of the world. I feel like I am learning about the world I am in. I am then told to spy on the other two nations. I go to the nations and am told to do the same type of investigation I just did. I learn nothing new. I partake in the exact same fight. Then I hit the third nation and repeat the same proccess. Afterwards I have to rescue the leaders of each grand companies speaker and then listen to all of them give me a long speach.

Comparing the two games: XI I did several quests one time. XIV I do the same quest three times at which point I do not learn about the world, I simply grind.

If you think this takes too much time you should probably quit now, it only gets worse.

It's really not that bad, once you get your goobbue you can pretty much burn thru them all in a few hrs tops. Just think we had to slowga-run it, and some of us without a lvl 50 at least yoshi gave you newbies a goobbue to get this crap done faster. Its really not so bad in the long run either. earn up your seals from each nation and stock up on lower lvl supplies or gear from each one.
