Is it freedom or a norm?

    Morning guys,

Uhh…usually I get this unnerving anxiety to post over the forums as I am not a frequent poster.

In reference to my tittle specifically, do i really need to have all 3 roles mandatory (tank, heals & dps)?

I’ve always love tanking & healing, if anything it makes me feel more engaging & contributing much to the party.

I did try couple of DPS; especially RDM since i got it to 90. But the sole reason why i took to DPS was due to feeling pressured or rather I create that pressure myself as I am sort of compelled in some way that “i must have a dps” in order to be able to be flexible.

DPS is not in my blood,

Can I get by through the game with just PLD & WHM alone? I am casual & don’t engage on static like extremes & savage except roulettes & pvp.

Sorry this post seems cliche…hope some of you are understanding. Thanks

You don't need to play or level a dps if you don't want to. There's just some things you will miss out on like a few glamour pieces, titles, some extra quests and a mount. They try to incentivize players to level multiple jobs, but it is not something you need to do.

While I cannot give a specific date on when personal housing will be implemented, I can say that prices will be completely separate from free company housing, and, naturally, far more affordable.

You can get through msq with a single role.
You can get through every dungeon, trial, extreme, savage, and ultimate with a single role.

Though every class to a certain extent plays the same. Every role will to the best of their ability support the team, every role will to the best of their ability deal damage.
The three roles just dictate which specific thing you're specializing in for the team.

Even if you do stuff like savage and extreme, sticking to a single role (a single job even) is perfectly fine. Personally I am glad i picked up other jobs because of job and role quests.

The only things you will end up missing on are respective job quests and DPS role quests. Everything else can be done just fine with a single job.

You can level and play however many of the jobs you want. Heck, it is a better option to really focus on 2 or 3 jobs to ensure you aren't stressing about getting the gear for all of them melded to be usable on all jobs since not all of them benefit from the same melds.

I remember, back in one of the first FCs I was in when I started, there was one person who only played PLD. He never leveled anything else, other than CNJ back when it was needed to unlock PLD - and only up to 15, he didn't even unlock Stoneskin to use, and only focused on that. Not sure if he still does it that way, but it's something some people do. SO there is really no harm in focusing on just the jobs/roles you prefer to play.

The biggest benefit of at least leveling the others is to get an understanding of how they play, and why - not sure if you do this - spinning a boss/mobs is a big no-no.

I only play Paladin and have 0 issues with doing content that I enjoy. I did unlock Dragoon at one point in ShB, but that was mainly so that I could have faster queue times with the alliance raids. However now I've just accepted longer queue times when I want to tank those raids, and the wait is worth it since I enjoy Paladin a lot more than Dragoon.

Nah, of course not. It's a game. You're free to play it however you want provided you don't violate TOS.

The game's made so you can experience the full story and do all content - even the higher tier stuff you aren't interested in - by only touching a single one of the 19 combat jobs.

Nothing will stop you from completing the story up through Endwalker; anything you queue for, people will be glad to be joined by a tank or healer - in 99.9% of cases, more glad than another dps.

The only caveat is that both tanks and healers are very much expected to also do as much damage as possible, so don't neglect your skills there; fortunately for you, the way your classes do damage, especially whm, is very straightforward and only has a few buttons to push.
