Can someone explain glamour level please

Hi can someone explain the glamour item level.

I am currently level 54 and ilvl 76, but keep getting the error
"Unable to Glamour. Base item level can not be lower than glamour cast."

Does this mean that the piece ive got to use as glamour has to be equal to or higher than my level and ilvl ?

Or is it based on just level or just ilvl etc?

    Thanks

Basically, the glamour item (the one you want the appearance of) cannot be of a higher item level than what you have equipped.

So if you have a ilvl90 chestpiece and you try to glamour a ilvl120 chestpiece over it, even if they are both level 50, you can't because the game is telling you to equip the higher ilvl item.

The item that you want to use the look of has to be equal or lower than the item you're actually wearing.

Thats why a lot of items that are only for glamour have ilvl1 - so that you can glamour them onto any item you might equip.
Its also seperate for each item, your characters ilvl is irrelevant.

    To give an example:
Lets say you're using a chestpiece from LotA (ilvl 80) and legs from Sycrus tower (ilvl 100) - you can glamour anything below ilvl 80 onto that chespiece and anything below ilvl 100 into those legs.

Thats awesome, so basically the lv. part doesn't matter as long as the ilvl of the bit to be glamour is equal to or lower than what i have equipped :P

It's actually referring to the actual level of the item you're trying to equip, not the ilvl. As in if you're wearing level 70 Scaevan gear that has an ilvl of 390 (400 if augmented) it won't let you use a glamour prism on the first dungeon's gear that is level 71 but has an ilvl of 370. Same with the second dungeon that has level 73 dungeon gear but an ilvl matching unaugmented Scaevan gear.

So long as the actual level of your gear is higher than or matches the actual level of the gear you're trying to glam it doesn't matter what the ilvl of the gear is.

Source: Spent multiple hours trying to figure out why I couldn't glam level 63 Shisui legs over my level 60 Shire legs, realized why and facepalmed myself.

Obnoxiously, it's based solely on level rather than ilevel. If I have an Augmented Cryptlurker piece (level 80, i530) and want to glamour a piece of Manusya gear (level 81, i520) over it, despite the Manusya gear being worse stats-wise and ilevel-wise (i520 to i530), I cannot do so as it's higher level (level 81 vs level 80) than the objectively-better armor.

I aim to make my posts engaging and entertaining, even when you might not agree with me. And failing that, I'll just be very, VERY wordy.

It's just so you can't appear to be wearing gear of a higher level than you actually are.

I guess they don't want you running around looking like you're at endgame when you're level 14 lol.

For the vast majority of situations, you could just...wear the item you want instead of glamouring it.
