With the redesign of the achievement UI, it seems like Yoshi P wants people to invest time in working on achievements as you journey through ffxiv. Personally, the new UI doesn't really change how I see achievements for my gameplay.

I think achievements are missing a user feedback visual beyond just showing a popup when you complete an achievement. People not only feel good when they complete an achievement but also when they're making progress towards an achievement and can see that progress increase. You can't really see this progress though unless you open your achievement journal and scroll to find it in your watchlist or the long list categories.

I think it would be cool to visually show progress towards your achievements as you complete tasks/duties as like a small popup in the corner or something of the UI. Obviously something you could turn off or maybe only show progress for achievements in your watchlist or separate list altogether.

There are tasks/duties that feed towards multiple achievements, that could be queued to show each progress update for a couple seconds before going to the next one. I believe the same happens for completing achievements now if you complete multiple at once.

Maybe it's too much, but I think it would bring maybe more awareness towards achievements and your own achievement progress as you play the game. I could definitely see some people not liking it though so it would need to be toggleable.
