It’s mind boggling to me and this seems only possible in ffx if they removed the necromancer class in eq2 the push back of the players would be extremely though and I would insta quit the game.

Only in ffxiv the community seems to take the stance that’s apparently completely fine to completely remove a class.

I do agree the rework was a bit too much and it essentially killed the job for a lot of people. It's still more popular now than ever because you're the ultima weapon. That's kinda what happens when you cater only to the casual players and don't think about the raiders and more dedicated players. To be, the Monk rework is a success (it still has flaws, there is a Dragon Kick spam rotation) but Monk, in general is liked by everyone. Summoner is.... ehhhhhhhh. How should I put it :\

Monk is more complex at level 50 than the entirety of Summoner's level 90 though. Positionals, a rotation that doesn't kill braincells, rewards for playing correctly (positive reinforcement!) and high damage (and utility). I'm liking Monk; might make it my main class but I'm also learning BLM optimization.

Summoner; haven't touched it in a couple weeks after realizing that "this is it" in terms of new things to learn about the job.

I’m an old Summoner main player and prefer the newer job design to its older design, so with all due respect, your comment about “blatant disregard” doesn’t necessarily apply for all Summoner players; many previous Summoner mains like Larryzaur got changes they wanted too, although exact percentage statistics are hard to confirm since only a small minority of players use the forums.

As I’ve said before though, there are some changes that I would like to see such as Elemental Mastery being unlocked earlier and Carbuncle’s attack buff being usable outside of battle, and I’ve repeatedly listed some of those before across multiple threads, but I would rather that Square Enix continue to make improvements to the newer design rather than revert to the older implementation that I personally feel wasn’t as fun.

The disregard is divorced from result, you enjoy it? Great, happy for you. What I'm talking about is the failure to meaningfully or effectively translate any good design from previous summoner(s) into the new summoner. It's just a new job. The fact that they completely threw away something that many players enjoyed is offensive enough.

Your changes do nothing for the dreary, monotonous, and poorly designed job summoner is at 90, though I don't disagree with those changes.

I wouldn't say the number of players immediately after it's released is a good indicator of popularity. It's got that "New Class Smell" of course it's going to be popular for at least a tier. I'm curious to see how it ends up after a tier or two, personally, once people start to get tired of it.

Mmm, SMN is fun like the first times but yeah, SMN has nothing innovative as it levels. It get punished from downtimes that moves rebuff windows out of Bahamut. RDM has been good for me. Well, let me explain in more details; for a casual, SMN is great. It looks and feels appealing to have the literal primals summoned. It's a popular job that falls in raid. Similar to WHM.

I'm hoping that they at least talk about SMN during the live letter tonight. I would love to find out if there will be any adjustments before 7.0 out of potency changes. I'm obviously not expecting or hoping for a full rework, but some minor QoL changes would be nice.

Be nice if they spoke on the state of current smn tonight but my hopes are very slim on any info. Have a feeling they just going to talk about the next 10 years. Which I don't understand why to make a LL just for vague info about expacs that are 2+ years away. Like all they need to do is tell us that have plains for the next 10 years and leave it at that. Personally, I rather hear info about 6.1 and possible QoL changes for smn and other jobs. Either way, I most likely won't be watching. Hopeing I'm wrong by the way...

Asthetically it is great. But gameplay wise it gets pretty boring. Its a good start but I think 7.0 we should see some sort of complexity to be added to the job.
