I'm kinda hyped for Island Sanctuaries even though we know next to nothing about them... so let's dream about them and talk about what we're excited for (based on what little info we have)!

Personally, I'm excited to see all my minions out and hanging out together ^w^
But also, I can't wait to build like.. a chill spot that me and my friends can hang out at

ppl may not like it but some form of instanced housing, pet battles (like the MMO that shall not be named) and a new gathering lifeskill e.g. farming/breeding/tanning etc.
I doubt we will get any of that.

The last four years have taught me both the people that have houses and the people that don't have houses will complain.

Pre-Shadowbringers there were plans for public garden plots to get around the "not everyone has a house" issue for those apartment-bound. I'd wager this is an upgraded and revised version of that.

Personally, I'm going to just sit on it and see what it is when it's finally announced. This is the sort of system that could easily spiral out of control with the expectations placed on it, so I'd rather be ready to accept it on its own terms rather than build the perfect system in my head.

I know next to nothing about the games the IS are supposed to be taking inspiration from, so I can't really speak to that. I just want a place I can plop a building down on then go apeshit landscaping to make that perfect relaxation space. Adding a little veggie garden and room to let minions scramble about is icing on the cake.

No joke, I'm really really really hoping we can make the island into a giant personal house yard. I don't need the house, I just want a building to make it look "real" and have a big ass yard to landscape.

That's pretty close to how it is in XI, so I'm keeping that as my base expectation as well. That version gives you a few nodes to collect from daily (botany/mining/fishing), you also have 3 gardening beds for your use, and then you can rear monsters (I'm assuming this part would be tweaked to be related to minions instead).

I would like to think that with XIV being faaaaar more modern, they could really knock this out of the park, but...they've also gone backwards with the implementation of other systems (looking at you, glamour!), so who knows. :X

If I have one wish though, I do hope they have some (decent) instanced housing attached to it all. I'd love to be able to have my own cozy spot, away from the wards.

So basically WoW garrisons? I really hope the devs will iterate on this concept a bit more and add much more customization and interactivity, especially since they supposedly are going to be adding content to it for multiple patches. If not, it might end up being yet another system that gets abandoned like Grand Companies more or less are.

I personally would like to see it as a form of player housing everyone gets access to, even if it isn't quite as custom as decorating a normal house or apartment is. Being able to play around with options outdoors would help in this. I am cautiously optimistic, but at the same time I'm used to things like this turning out mediocre despite developers knowing full well what the players actually want.
