Do all of the 3 starting areas have spiders/spider-ish mobs?

I know this might be quite a stupid question to ask for a MMORPG, but Im really arachnophobic and its frustrating me that I cant play such games in general most of the time just because of it… I started in Gridania yesterday and there were two different mobs that looked like spiders and it really freaked me out because I really wanna play this game, but my fear is getting in the way of it (Im talking about these small, but fat ones with glowing eyes I think theyre called Mitelin or something like that, and the one with thin long legs and small body on top if that helps). Do the other two regions where we can start our journey also have these mobs or similar ones? Or if there are, is it possible to completely avoid them/are they NOT almost everywhere or is it really necessary to progress through the game? Depending on the answer I might give it another shot because even after just playing for like 2 hours the community seemed really friendly and the game itself was really fun so far too

PS: I dont know if its possible to send pictures/videos in here or not because Im new here, but if it is possible Id really appreciate it if nobody sends pictures or something of mobs and say „That doesnt count as a spider right?“ because its very likely that it is enough for me… Thank you all in advance c:

I love Ul'Dah. I'm not a spiderphobe tho, so not sure what triggers. I'm having a hard time thinking of anything that would trigger you, except for past Horizon (a city), called a coblyn. This game has a lot of arachnid looking creatures tho. Sorry to hear it is bothering you.

Umm… they’re kind of everywhere in the beginning, sadly. The mite enemies are pretty much localized to Gridania in the ARR areas, I think. But there are similar enemies in the other two starting areas. Pretty sure Uldah has a bunch of spidery creatures near the mines by Blackbrush. And if giant crabs count then you’re out of luck with Limsa, cuz those things are everywhere in that area. Additionally, one of the starting dungeons that are necessary for the MSQ basically features a spider-type enemy infested tomb of sorts that ambush you a couple times. Only solution I can think of is have someone play through that dungeon for you, and avoid the rest? I’m not too keen on spiders either (imagine dealing with spiders being part of your job, like mine is :/ ) so thankfully once you get beyond those opening parts, arachnid type enemies more or less stop being a thing, beyond one particular 24-man Raid boss that I can remember.

I don't know what to tell you here. This game has a decent amount of spider type enemies. You can't really avoid them. The second dungeon in the game at level 16 is full of spiders. If you really can't handle it you may as well just quit right now.

Maybe you could find someone to party up with you and get rid of creatures that trigger your phobia for you? If running past them isn't an option either. In dungeons you could maybe sit back until they clear those parts out for you.

As was already pointed out, the mites are confined to the gridania area. The other ones(i thought of them as kinda mosquitos, but if you see them as more like a daddy long legs then i can see that being a problem) are found in or near the rivers in all 3 starting areas. Limsa also has giant crabs, and ul dah also has giant ants. Overall the game has a fairly low level of spider themed enemies, but there are a handful of them that are required to defeat to progress. The 4th dungeon being probly the worst. If you do try to give it a go, for that dungeon(Thousand Maws) it might be a good idea to get a higher level player(friend/fc mate/some random person) to run the dungeon unsynced for you. Basically the higher level would go in as level 90(or whatever) and kill all the enemies(it would take less then 5 mins and they wouldnt need you to help), so you could just kinda hang back and get story credit for the reason you were sent there(you wouldnt get experience, but not having to fight the spider types might be worth it).

*nodnod* I've run into spider-like monsters pretty consistently throughout the game and expansions. I'd say, unfortunately, your choices are either find a game better suited to your proclivities and fears or do as others suggest and try to overcome your fears.

*sidenote- I have a friend who is genuinely terrified of bananas. Not sure why. He's never talked about it. I get that overcoming a fear is sometimes easier said than done. Good luck man! I hope whatever you decide works for you.
