Every set so far we get to see with the previews. More proof that catering to classical armor weights is not the norm... We get this:

A classical representation of tanks in armor and mages with dresses... The middle term gets a bit hazy, but it still might qualify as "medium" armor.

    but also this

If we had this same screenshot but without weapons, I bet the only ones I would be able to tell would be caster/healer but just because of the dress-like silhouette. Also noting that Maiming this time around shares a set with Scouting... interesting.

Again, apart from the healer and caster, all the rest looks quite undistinguishable

Fell Court of Troia SS, which likely has people wearing the dungeon set and the only one that conforms to its role is the tank. The Samurai on the back looks like scouting or aiming. The lalafell Bard looks like caster with a ninja-esque headpiece. I'll personally bet that Healer will share this Aiming model, and what the Samurai is wearing will be also for Scouting and Casting. With some minor variations, of course.

To be honest that Striking chestpiece would look great on a RDM. Guess they have to make do with robes again though!

Glamour without restrictions* is long overdue!
If you think so too, help keep the thread going!

Now that you mentioned... That IS a RDM outfit the Samurai is wearing. It checks many boxes: Dapper, lightweight, not-a-dress, red. Even the pants+shoes combo looks like something a spellcaster would wear, as opposed to the greaves from the others using this same set.

Naaaa...it's the only thing that FFXIV has from a traditional RPG stereotype.
I'd like to see more racially oriented glam tho...we have only one lv1. It's really a shame.
FF series is know to explore deeply fantastic cultures...but to be honest we are really shallow here.
We only have azim steppe as a main scenario place.

Elder Scrolls Online is fantastic in such topic...you have a racial questline where you know more about your culture. Wood elf is amazing and immersive. Dragon Age Origins is another fantastic RPG that explore your culture selected during character creation. This is the way.

It would be way better if we had three questlines: 1) main scenario quest 2) job quests 3) race quests
    1 and 2 we already know how it works but for 3...we could have a new quest with 10 level interval (e.g 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60)
As a reward you gain race oriented glam on lv 20, 40 and 60.

    Plus:
    - increase fantasia sell
    - create glams that respect our bodies
    - deeper immersion

They could release one race on x.5 or x.2 patches.

If people are free to wear a draconic/reptile-like race such as Au Ra as a whore or maid, i could glam it like a dragon, unfortunately, i don't have a decent glam to suit my gangsta run animation because...people like more whores and maids than dragons.Or Viera, if people didn't see us as a playboy model but as a hunter, i could have more options to glam it properly.

Add another vote for removing restrictions. The only one that I think is potentially justified is requiring levels. As in to glam a level 70 piece from one job/profession you have to be 70+ on the other jobs/professions to have it show.

I'm so upset by this gear reveal -_- the striped sleeves outfit is what I've dreamed about [and requested on here!] for casters so to see exactly what I want and to not be able to join in feels baaaaaad. Like they look like two different gearsets in one image. I understand the logic behind keeping class identity but if doing so interferes with the overall theme and design of the gearsets as a whole then maybe it's worth not being so precious in this dedication to nose to toe robes. Why even bother designing boots and pants for casters anymore? We never get to see them. I know it's dumb getting so upset over glam stuff but it's infuriating because the solution is literally there and just out of reach. The casting gear looks too much like both the cryptlurker set and the spaekona set. Enough with the cones.

I agree with this, if they're going to keep designing the casting sets around black mage at least let me glam some nice striking gear on my red mage, backflipping in robes looks incredibly silly

Plus, not every race is a stereotype that you can pinpoint to one place. Some, like yours, sure, mostly only come from the one spot on the map. Au Ra tend to be either more widespread (Raen have two major hubs) or concentrated (Xaela). I'd argue against "the Azim Steppe being the only place". You're ignoring Bozja, the Ruby Sea, Thavnair, all of Ishgard and Ala Mhigo. Your own race's homeland is lightly touched upon in the Return to Ivalice raids. But Midlander Hyurs, Miqo'te and Roegadyn are notoriously diluted.
And the game basically spends 3 whole plot points dealing with Elezen in the MSQ, so the race quests stop being unique character-exclusive content and just become a part of the games' story.

Edit: one other thing you're ignoring is that for the most part, the races in Elder Scrolls were confined to their own corner of the world until The Empire happened.
FF14 has pre-history, sundering of the races and several Umbral Calamities to force people to spread. The only ones that didn't spread were often (though not always) the ones with inherent defences. Bozja was protected by the Primal Queens, the Azim Steppe is under the calamity-soothing influence of Heaven-on-High, and Elezen were already popular in the Shroud but then were forced to isolate themselves further because of the Elementals. These events happened over and over for long periods of time, longer than ESO's very slow and very localized mingling

    So?
This is the problem with only comparing games, people forget the context of the one they're comparing. It makes sense for those MMORPGs to have that sort of gear, as their system and designs clearly allow for that. But FF14 has an entirely different context and design from those games, even if it's an MMORPG like they are.
The game places emphasis on glamour with stuff like the Weekly Fashion Report or GPose, and it's acknowledged to be one of the main draws FF14 has for its community. The community itself cares a lot more about glamour than they do about some gameplay elements. Those games cannot say the same, even if players care a lot about how their character looks like.

Just to continue the tangent: one of the strongest worldbuilding elements to FFXIV that absolutely delights me is that it avoids the unrealistic and overdone 'Planet of Hats' trope where all members of a fantasy race have a homogenized culture and single homeland/starting location and the ideal of immigration, be it small-scale or large, is bizarrely absent. It's an overdone trope that isn't solely found in shallow fantasy worlds - Star Wars Legends was notoriously bad - but I love the freedom, realism, and richness of a world where while there are locations with distinct population majorities, it isn't universal. Each fantasy race has multiple subcultures and options for homeland and backstory, even without the blank slate open-ended adventurer background for the protagonist. I was especially delighted when Thavnair was revealed to have a sizeable Raen population tied deeply to its backstory and distinct from the Raen of Sui-no-Sato or Werlyt.
