    I don't expect anything major in 6.2 but I'm assuming we're going to get larger glam updates in the future. Something like removing role restrictions will probably take a while longer, but we're moving in the right direction with expanding glamour plates and dresser slots. I just hope they don't pull the "job identity" excuse again because that's just beyond dishonest at this point and I probably wouldn't accept any sort of engine limitations excuse either. "It'd be too hard" also isn't really an excuse for something like this because the trade-off is worth it more than people even realise.

    There are some hints that they are tinkering with outside of the box stuff... Like for example, the level 90 artifact sets that are dyable only under the condition that you have the quests cleared. They even made that padlock interface detail on the icons to point that up, something never seen before. Yes it's a small detail, but that gives me hope that something that we don't know yet is being made with the system and some sort of code limitation is being worked out.

    hopefully theyre making things easier on the graphics overhaul team and actually making bigger textures to start with rather than working small as they claim theyve always done

They don't fit the entire rest of the game's gear and they don't dye particularly well, either (for examples of that, try making the Sophist set anything other than black or white, or the Clown outfit)...

    There was, in fact, a mention of the start of a glamour overhaul in 6.2. This was mentioned in the future of FFXIV stream this year as well as a few interviews shortly before Endwalker's release.
    The glamour slot news came after he mentioned changes to the glamour system, which implies it's something different and neither related to the graphics overhaul or the slot increase.

    Indeed, maybe in 6.2 we'll actually start to see new things, because stuff like more plates and more slots, while good and necessary, cannot be considered "overhaul" in any understanding.

    I strongly doubt it'll happen with 6.2 but I hope that by 7.0 we'll have the restrictions removed.

    I'm in favor of having this. I find it ridiculous that caster and range DPS get to have a gasmask but not tanks.

    I find it laughable that pieces like the gasmask that have absolutely no correlation to armor types are locked to certain roles. Same goes for 99% of the headgear honestly.
