Surely you don't mean to tell me that, for example, PLD and GNB have the same class fantasy?

Class fantasy hasn't been a thing in this game for years. I've only played this game for a year and I can see that by just looking at how gear has changed over the previous years and expansions.

Healer and caster is consistently "sabotaged" aesthetically by white and black mages respectively with most generic armours being based almost exclusively around them.

Ranged is all over the place, with bard having gear that fits well with traditional final fantasy mage attire, machinists and military/bulky/tank gear, and now dancer with lighter looking gear...

I don't even play dancer but I can see how much it would benefit if these restrictions were to be lifted. Only one example of a newer job that doesn't have much gear that works for it that it can use which would benefit enormously from this.

Well if their armor design is anything to go off of, they won't do it because they're too lazy. Seriously look at the pvp set from last expansion. Every single melee dps gear is the exact same, the aiming set is just the tank set without the butt flap. Just lazy and pathetic. So yeah, if they ever decide to not be lazy, they should just open up the glamour.

There are many reasons why the restrictions should be lifted. They already cheated their own standard a few times, like the armors from Bozja where everyone wore this Judge Magister-esque armors including casters if I remember correctly.
I'd understand if they'd want to keep 50/60/70/80/90 job gear exclusive to their own jobs, but there's literally no reason why the late allagan armor is this kind of genji-looking nonsense for melees and then there's the caster set that's entirely different and I can't just apply one or the other regardless of job.

PvP gear is super inconsistent. The Late Allagan Healing set would look perfect on a machinist, while the actual Aiming set is a toned-down version of the Fending set... Meanwhile Maiming gets the same look as Striking and Scouting. It just doesn't make sense.

to give an example I dont want to wear non-tank gear so I can fool people that I am a healer with an axe.
I want to wear non-tank gear because the tunic I want has exactly the same model on Maiming but it's my favorite colour.

Just another reason why healers feel like an afterthought: The caster armor sets have SO much more thought put into them than the healer armor sets.
That set design isn't really proof of anything because the Lakeland sets are just reusing older models. It's the tank coat from the same series as the Plague Doctor healer set.

I'll agree that the choice of recycled set for the Lakeland healer gear was underwhelming, but it wasn't a unique design.

Late Allagan gear came from a design contest for melee gear, which is why all three melee types get the same style.

The least they could've done was have the Nier gear available for everyone. I don't see why I can't have those thigh highs. This game is annoying.
