In my Country, a Marxist dictator Keir Starmer lowered his boot upon everyone, from disabled and ill to elderly and poor. He makes Gaius Van Baelsar look like a very good guy. I know of disabled people who are also concerned about such policies, but wherever you're from, please remember that such policies face huge backlash and high court judges. Don't worry about posting here frequently, this thread is one worth bumping I think.



As for this thread, I think class restrictions for glamours should be removed. It's frustrating that so many gear pieces are locked to certain classes (shorts and hoods for instance are almost exclusively DoM and some rog/nin.) Though I do appreciate realism, this game is well past the point of realism in regards to class armour, when thousands of bikini axe cats exist lol, it's actually uncommon to see a tank wear armour (resorting to what few pieces circumvent that currently.) Plus breaking expected trends can be nice, like that Lalafell warrior in Limsa Lominsa who is also a scholar.

I made a glamour of a character called Clare from a manga Claymore (it's on Eorzea Collection) it's really good, but not perfect because the dark knight class cannot use ruby cotton shorts nor a specific striking top. And many other examples where you must compromise.

I think a BLM in full plate armor would be badass rather than awkward. Melees or tanks in robes could also look cool. Sure there could be "awkward" combinations but in the end that's only an opinion. The idea that someone can't look the way they want to just because someone else thinks it won't look good is very silly.

So did the Healer Strike thread and look where that landed us. Not telling you to give up, but I'm just saying don't get your hopes up for major change very soon. We've all seen how the team (at least the higher ups) tries to get away with bare minimum effort.

There are ways to go black mage in full plate. Not a ton of them, but some. There's just no way (and there will be no way) to go black mage in traditional Final Fantasy Summoner gear, which is what the title of this thread is asking for. Almost certainly this is the reason the otherwise *extremely* Vivi-themed Casting and Healing tomestone gear for this patch doesn't have his big yellow hat, since it would allow red mages to dress up as black mages.

It's not. The point is, while there are options for 'Black Mage in plate gear' via certain all-roles gear, there are some pieces of gear that would look great on a Black Mage for a certain glam set, but cannot be used because they're artificially tagged as being a different role.

Take this example I posted previously:



These two chestpieces are pretty bulky looking, could look pretty good on a Tank. But one is for MNK/SAM, and one is for BRD/DNC/MCH. The request this thread is trying to ask is 'Hey, this item is locked to specifically MNK/SAM. And there's a recoloured version of it, that is locked to BRD/MCH/DNC (and MNK/SAM can't use the recolour for some reason). If it's possible for Role A to use Colourset X, and Role B to use Colourset Y, why not allow players more freedom, to let any Role use Colourset X, and any role use Colourset Y, for more player expression potential?'

Job Artifact Gear should be the exception, to allow a BLM to look like a BLM, by using BLM specific gear, or for a RDM to look like a RDM by using RDM gear. I'm not sure anyone's asking for a BLM to be able to use the SMN horn, for example, and if anyone is, I don't agree with that take. I disagree with YP's stance of 'it'd be weird for a BLM to look like a Tank', because a BLM can look like a circus mascot using any of the bodysuits (Frog, Mu, Gaja, etc), and a Tank can look like a swimwear model but still have the defensive capability to take a Tankbuster.

Besides, look at NPCs in the game. For example, Hilda, the Mongrel:



She looks cool, the set she's wearing fits with her character/her 'job' (MCH). But ironically, the only part of it that is 'MCH gear', is the gun! Her chest, Hands and Legs are all DRG/RPR specific. Her Boots are Crafter boots, in terms of stats, but can be equipped by any class.

Look at Conrad from SB, the old fella in charge of the resistance:



He's got a THM weapon (scepter thingy), uses a Healing Chest, Healing Legs from a different set, a set of Hands from an Aiming set, and a set of Casting Boots!

I will also perpetually defend the use of Artifact gear for all jobs, not because I want to literally dress exactly like another job, but because Artifact gear is full of bits and pieces that would look great in other Jobs.

Using the SMN horn example that was itself used, BRD has in itself a partial unicorn theme with Army's Paeon, which is to say, it would make perfect sense to me for someone to want an unicorn-themed glam on their BRD, for which the Caller's Horn or the Channeler's Horn would be absolutely perfect, or the fact that CNJ/WHM also has a strong connection to unicorns due the Unicorn mount literally being an exclusive mount to CNJ, so why should SMN have a monopoly in single horns protruding from one's forehead?

I also find the point about Vivi's look feels completely pointless when there are so many dyeable wide-brimmed pointy hats you could use as a replacement already...

Here's my healer gear. I only bring it up because the top is pretty much the same as Hilda's, and literally any job in the game can wear what I have set up on my healers. So if a MCH wanted Hilda's top, they could have something pretty close to it.
