Personally I would as a minimum like not having a class restriction to Glamours showing.
Like if you use a PLD armor glams on Fending gear, the glam should show as that armor on all jobs when worn.

Completely agree with the OP.As of lately, Square have definitely changed the "tanks wear plate and healers wear dresses" way of thinking when designing gear. With more jobs being released and armor sets being varied in designs, the line that separates armor types has been blurred. There's no longer much reasons for jobs to not be able to glam (not equip, just GLAMOUR) a basically identical set to theirs just because they're not the other job.
Now, of course, that doesn't mean there shouldn't be exceptions. Artifact gear or any weapon whatsoever should absolutely be off-limits. After all, we have sets like the ones from the first two Nier raids, which are almost identical - difference between the Fending, Maiming and Striking sets being how much you rolled your sleeves... or The Law's Order set of Scouting that is literally a plate armor and yet it's a Ninja set. The Asphodelos armor sets are similar - this time, the plate set doesn't have a single piece of metal on it.
Especially with the amounts of cross-class gear being released, and people being able to look like a neon frog or a clown, I don't see how a Dragoon wearing a Fending set would break anyone's immersion.
The whole "armor silhouette" argument to lock glams behind armor group has been thrown off the window for a long time now. We keep seeing tanks getting flowy cloth sets and healers getting full plate sets.
They can keep the armor groups as they are, but when it comes to glamour, just have this functionality be "all class" regardless.
This is also a huge issue with Dancers.
Both prior and after their implementation, aiming items, sans few exceptions like the Ravel Keeper, looks like suited for either machinist or bard, while Scouting got items that would fit Dancers like a glove...
I find that most Aiming gear I come across/that gets introduced, Even some Striking, looks like it should have been Scouting instead. And most Scouting gear doesn't look like something you would technically 'scout' in. We're also wearing Caster gear to what the hell is up with that?
Glamour restrictions made me search high and low to obtain my ideal look and I love what I've got goin on. But man, those Nier Raid thighboots would sure make more of a difference (and A2 hairstyle would be icing on the cake)
REMOVE GLAMOUR RESTRICTIONS
Oh I see what you mean. My bad.
The Radiant Scouting gear is literally a recolor of the Casting gear rofl.I find that most Aiming gear I come across/that gets introduced, Even some Striking, looks like it should have been Scouting instead. I was rly disappointed to see that, the Aiming gear looks like it fits NIN far more.
Edit: Saw you mentioned that now too didn't read the whole thing my mistake.
But yes +1 lol.
I dunno why they gave us the casting gear and just recolored it...
I wish we got the Aiming one instead.
Imo I prefer the shorter jacket for the Crystarium gear too than the long one on NIN.
The long one would fit Aiming better imo I dunno why people think that giant and long fabrics is a thing that fits Rogues/ Ninjas.

See!? I've used very few Scouting pieces for my glamour throughout the years cuz the majority of them just suck. The Radiant Scouting gear is literally a recolor of the Casting gear rofl.

100% support this, and if they want people to work for it they could do worse than adapt what FFXI did. They would need to address jobs starting at varying levels, though.
They have said that they would be willing to make classless versions of gear on request, and they have. I don't know of a specific "request hotline" but they did do it for the Sky Rat and Sky Pirate sets seemingly coincidently around the time I was wanting those. Apparently there is some code not allowing them to keep actual gear restricted but making glamouring that same gear unrestricted. It seems less efficient to me to make duplicates of everything but if that is the only way, here I am requesting it for literally everything, but artifact gear. More seriously I think they should work on a better glamour system for the long run.

The restrictions truly adds nothing to this game other than annoyance. Same issue with WoW and GW2 (albeit gw2's issue is that their failsafe for broken seams is to load... emptiness) meanwhile ESO lets you do whatever and it's perfectly fine.
