We really should be able to glamour other jobs' sets

It was funny to me how during the keynote, they specified that Dawntrail’s AF gear will this time be a return to roots rather than inspired by the new region. As if that hasn’t been literally every expansion’s AF gear theme.

Maybe this means they will use older FF titles for inspiration or even 1.0 to design this round of gear. All I know is I am so tired of casters getting the same robes over and over again. Aside from a few ornamental changes on the pieces most of the caster gear looks the same, and healer gear is just a palette swap which cheapens the whole thing anyway.

They rarely step out of the AF 'cohesion box' except for a couple of outliers, like SMN and SCH heavenward sets that look like something completely distinct compared to all what they gave in the subsequent expansions.

For some jobs, like Dancer or Reaper, due to being still very new, I don't mind keeping the same theme from before, because it makes great mix and matching between different AF sets. But I can only imagine how tired WHM mains must be to get the almost the same thing for the 5th time in a row (since we got to see WHM's set concept art in the keynote slide). They could keep the white with red details theme but go for another silhouette, honestly.

I think they have literally said every time that the theme is basically traditional. They have never been given any other unique theme to make them stand out, which is a real shame. Even something like FFXI inspired. You know how cool it would’ve been to have FF8 inspired AF gear in Shadowbringers?

Finally decided to stop lurking in the shadows, get an account and add my voice to the choir. Yes this change is what glamour system needs. The previous rules were arbitrary and grow more so with every all class pvp armor or casual gear, with every gear set that shares designs among jobs at seemingly random. Besides i really think if they removed glamour restrictions and added glamour log instead of limited dresser, that would add so much more reason to run old content. People revisiting old dungeons, trials and raids, grinding hunt and pvp currency again, just to get glamours "they always kinda liked, but it wasn't for their main class" or just to fill out the log.

This is how WoW and ESO do it, and most other MMOs implement a similar system. I believe the FFXIV team did test out a glamour collection tab, but due to the way the game servers handle requests it made each player load every single item in their collection every time they loaded into a new instance, which quickly crashed the test server. That's all we heard about it, though I hope they didn't shelve the concept and are finding a workaround.

Another +1 from me, let us glamour whatever we want (sans AF gear if we want that to be an exception) as long as we have the appropriate job/role leveled. Lord knows I can toss a few duplicates I have in my inventory and dresser if the glamour system didn't care about my job.

I also want to be greedy and ask for AF gear too, it'd be nice to use the older SCH skirts on my highlander without having to be SCH, but I'll settle for everything else being unlocked.

Oh yeah. A bonus point if they remove the restrictions means they have less need to expand the 800 dresser slots, too.

All those cloned models can be coke'd at that point, leaving only 1 or maybe a couple more if you prefer certain dye palette of the same model.
