At this point I'm inclined to think it's either technical issues (very likely) or they're trying toforcegive players another reason to raise other roles... for whatever reason that is.
There's no hurt in trying to ask though.
I think it's both technical and a vision for how things ought to be. In looking up the question, it seems like it's been asked a few times over. Maybe something was lost in translation, but he seems firm on this whole idea. I think there's a little more to it just because of how the gear situation has changed over the expansions.
The last time he was asked about this was prior to the SHB release: https://kotaku.com/we-took-a-bold-st...ect-1835098319. That's almost 4 years ago.I think it's both technical and a vision for how things ought to be. In looking up the question, it seems like it's been asked a few times over. Thing is, Yoshi-P didn't even give a proper answer, as nobody actually cares about weapons being made all-class. If vision is/was the issue, then he really should explain how the current (increasing) amount of lvl. 1 all-class gear is fine, but unrestricting dungeon/raid/etc. gear is something absurd.
Besides, SE also fairly often give technical limitations as a reason to not implement/fix something. He could have easily mentioned that they're unable to do it because it would be hard/require a rework of the equipment system. Instead what we got was a bizzare straw man about weapons... which again, nobody asked for.
So, no matter what the reason is, it hasn't been brought up since 2019 and we still haven't heard a solid reason from SE against removing the restrictions.
Like Bossonnettzi said, it displays it anyway.
Further, since it allows you to display any combination of armor directly on your character, even if it's a secondary menu model, that means there must be a way to do a WoW-style glamour book or some such thing- one that's completely divorced from the equipment system, itself.
The fact that it displays on the character at all even in the fitting room window is already proof enough that it is perfectly possible. On top of that, there have been third party methods to apply it to your character in-game (outside of the dresser) for your client only for years (without modding the files or swapping actual models around). It is 110% possible. The only issue could be the glamour dresser system itself which needs to go in favor of something better regardless of the restrictions.
Role glamour restrictions abolitionist! For more details and to help us spread the message:

I actually think unrestricted glamour would actually give people more reasons to level other roles, if one of the requirements is having a proper job leveled.
I have absolutely no interest in playing Maiming classes, I'm just leveling RPR because it already starts at a high level and I'm even doing slowly just with Wondrous Tails. However if I had to level them to use the glamour sets, I'd defnitely have one of the maiming jobs by 90 now.
Soooooooo today I was thinking that I could really use a new healer glam.
Then I suddenly remembered that I do in fact have other healer glams, and that they're all WHM glams that can't be used on other healers due to one single item on each.
Since this is becoming a reality, there's even less justification for arbitrarily restricting glamour:
Not even brand new players will have trouble telling apart jobs.
