    Anima weapon help

Does anyone know a quick way to get the umbrite and the dust without having to do crafting?

Me being the person I am, ive been focusing on other things and havent done anything with any crafting. Im trying to get the Cronus Lux and am not having much luck with this step in the process.

Honestly im just trying to get it for the glamour (I know, a lot of work just for that, but still) so im not trying to upgrade it to the max or anything like that.

You can buy Umbrite in Idyllshire from Hismena under the Special Arms category using Poetics. You can also buy Superior Enchanted Ink and Thavnairian Mist that you can exchange for Crystal Sand at Ulan (Other Items I).

Umbrite is for poetics only I think, you should have a list under keyitems? that shows you what you can trade in and its not just scrips by crafting/gathering.
You probably can try buying demimateria or ex primal loot and exchange it then or moonstones for gc currency, to name a few.

Do I only have to do it the one time to progress the quest along?

You have to do it every time you grind an Anima relic. But it's not so bad if you grind the poetics out beforehand. I've done the BRD and SMN relic recently over the span of a few days and I'm currently getting the mats together for the MCH relic. Almost done, too. DRK will be next. lol You can skip a lot of the longest steps just by playing the game (and using GC seals/gil to expedite certain bits) or helping people out for a little while before you even begin grinding. It's better to approach it as more of a side project, otherwise you end up like a WAR I've seen in the PF recently who has an unhealthy obsession with completing these. But if you want poetics super fast I would suggest going to Eureka or Bozja. You can also work on 2 relics at once if you go to either place. That's how I completed the Eureka and Anima SMN relic simultaneously was going to Eureka. Grinded the crystals/light/etc in Eureka for one relic while getting lots of poetics for the other.

One of the things you could trade in for sand was Amber Encased Vilekins. You can find those from chests in combat Levequests you get from Ishgard.

One called Show Your Work is fairly good for it, just take the leve, goto the Churning Mists, start it, fly over the area looking for chests, loot it if it spawned, then you can manually stop the quest from the log to restart it to respawn the chest for another roll at the Viilekins.

    Wiki is your friend: https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/w..._Weapons/Quest

    - Umbrite is poetics
    - Crystal Sand is the problematic one

The trades available for Crystal Sand are low on efficiency - either you dump A LOT of poetics or do gathering scrip (quicker than crafting if you aren't a crafter).

The quickest way to get gathering scrip would be through Oceanic Fishing. Every 2h instance-boat leaves Limsa for some fishing - it gives a lot of exp and doesn't really require gear or that much of it. After 2ish days your fisher would be >= 50 and you could unlock scrip currency with the quest https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/w...rutable_Tastes

Then each oceanic fishing will reward you with scrip. On top of that you will be able to unlock Custom Delivery NPCs (mini stories, a mount), that weekly (12 deliveries per week) will accept collectible items giving exp and scrip in return. Fisher can be used on them - although you would have to google where and how to catch the collectible fish they want (and you would have to do Fisher quests, get some decent for the level gear).

For Crystal Sand I've been using a combination of Moonstones from GC turn ins and primal mats (Inferno Horn, Vortex Feather, etc) to reach the desired amount. At most it's a couple hundred thousand gil.

This is what i dump my Poetics and GC seals on when i don't need for other things. Im not actively working on any of the weapons, but when i do i will be able to quickly go through a few steps.

This may not still be the best way, but back in Heavesnward, probably the easiest way of farming out the crystal sand was to accept any of the battle levequests in Ishgard that are located in Dravanian Hinterlands. Start the levequest and fly around the area looking for a treasure chest to open, this will have an amber encased vilekin. Abandon the leve without finishing the combat portion, then start it back up again and look for another chest.

You're still limited at that point on how many leves you have banked, but 100 leves should get you about 40-60 crystal sand.
