No. When clerics stance was a thing, less healers dps’d. Those who tried with clerics often faltered and ended up healing with int spec rather than mind mdd add king for unsustainable pulls. While I did enjoy this depth of gameplay, many couldn’t handle it

I honestly don't recall that less healers DPSed with cleric stance unless they were new. if that is used to justify not having cleric stance, please can we not have more BuT HealeRs CannOT Handle ComPlexiTy?

look where that has gotten us- 2 button spam in a large part of many encounters.

I do. I remember debates over it. Back in ARR, there wasn't as high an expectation in casual content for healers to dps as much as there is now.

The problem is that it was a band-aid on a setup that was faulty. Our damage should never have been based on INT in the first place. Our whole role was based around MND, so our gear focused on that, but then we had this clunky skill (it wouldn't turn off sometimes even after the cooldown) that swapped us over to INT to do damage. And it was only in this mode that we could do adequate damage.

When they removed the original version, they made our damage scale off MND instead so swapping between healing and dps was a lot more effortless and so there wasn't as much argument against not dpsing as there had been with stance dancing.

Tank stance never gave damage, it even used to be -20% damage for Paladin for the longest time and the job became undesirable at the end of HW for a variety of reasons that are beyond tank stances.

Warrior had Unchained to use with Defiance which made it the optimal tank to always pull raid bosses because they got full aggro along with no damage decrease. You were actually losing damage pulling raids with a Paladin or to a lesser extent, Dark Knight.

All the good raids were also bringing Ninjas for aggro control so they didn't have to use tank stance at all, because the best mitigation in this game is more damage. It added division in the community between casual players who would always leave tank stance on and have lower damage versus good players who knew when to turn it off for most damage. Another thing no one misses Stormblood, DPS having to actively control aggro with a debuff.

Yeah, let's not look back.

I thought so too; but I think its more that OP heard about Cleric Stance, but never actually saw it in play.
