If you're wanting a lore-accurate job, then I should point out that the raen don't really fight. Most of them live in hidden, hard to access settlements. The only notable raen I can think of who does fight is a ninja.

However, Au Ra in general do fit many jobs. Your dark knight job trainer for higher levels is an Au Ra, and there are major story characters who are warriors, black mages, and bards, and we see minor characters fighting with swords and with katanas.

Not every Raen hides as the current ruling race in Hingashi are the Raen. Then there's Radz-at-Han where we see various Au Ra as part of the Raidient Host weilding Swords and Shields. Lore wise I'd put them under the Gladiator umbrella as Paladins and Free Paladins are more of an Ul'dah thing. Au Ra can also be conjures as one shows up in the HW WHM story. But yes OP Au Ra seen in the story have been just about any job. It just depends on how strict you want to be with what you find acceptable. Just always switch over to the job if you choose a class that you don't see an Au Ra portray as said job. Also just know that npcs tend to cheat when it comes to skill use.

Can you cite this? I don't recall the Mitsurugi clan's race being mentioned anywhere. Nor the Hingan emperor's.

I don't have a source for that particular quote, but I can point out the ninja quests – "Princess Yuki of the Yatsurugi clan" is known to Oboro, so they are not hidden away. She seems to be from Hingashi.

Also from memory there are Auri enemies in the Hingashi Castle dungeon.

While I quoted the entire sentence, my interest was in the claim that "the current ruling race in Hingashi are the Raen". Which would mean either the Mitsurugi clan or the imperial family, depending on the view one takes of it.

In regards to Yuki Yatsurugi, while hime is often localised as princess, it does not necessarily indicate that the individual is the daughter of a monarch in Japanese use. In this case, presuming hime (姫) is used and not oujo (王女), or I suppose denka (殿下) if she's part of the imperial family, it is more than likely meant to indicate that Yuki Yatsurugi is simply of noble birth.

The Auri (and Hyuran) enemies are ronin/shinobi hired by Kageyama for his takeover of Kugane Castle. The Au Ra also Xaela for some reason.

The clan is like Lauront says is treated as a figurehead and that the Bakufu are the ones who are pulling the strings. I don't have a direct citation, but I do know in a few quests that people have stated that those in charge aka the Bakufu are Raen or at least enough of them are to make a remark about it. Also I doubt Yuki Yatsurugi's bodyguard wouldn't call her a princess if she wasn't one. Then there is the Ruby Princess who rules over Sui-no-Sato.

    No citation. Got it.

Pure baloney. Where did you even come up with this?

Sui no Sato, the settlement of Au Ra made up of raen Au Ra who explicitly refuse to fight back against the empire in Stormblood. The ones that do fight with us from the Azem Steppe are xela. And most of the ones we'd seem are also xela, like Sigrudu in Heavensward who is your dark knight trainer. Yugiri was the only notable raen I could remember.

That is literally one isolated settlement. It tells us nothing about how the rest of the population live or what values they hold.

While it's true that we haven't encountered many others in Othard, it's also not enough to extrapolate that all Au Ra are like this. We can only say for certain what the people of Sui-no-Sato are like.

Lauront provided a lorebook quote in post #17 that contradicts the idea that they all live like this.
