    Tank Questions

Hi all. Starting this off saying I don't main tank. Mained WHM from ARR to mid-ShB, finished ShB w/BLM and RDM and ran through EW with RDM and RPR. I'm trying to get out of my comfort zone and put a tank in my list of main jobs.

PLD and GNB are at 80 with WAR in the 30's and DRK somewhere in the 60's. I still don't intend to main Tank but I'd like one to dedicate time to. I don't care about its damage, I really just want a job that's beefy and easy for more casual play. From my understanding: DRK is kinda squishy but high damage, GNB is pretty self-supportive with both heals and some mitigation, WAR is pure healing and PLD focuses more on mitigating/blocking.

I know all jobs are viable - but from tank mains, which of these is the hardest to kill in, say, dungeons? Which is easiest for someone whose dipping their toes in tanking?

Warrior, if you wanna be the healer and Tank at the same time in dungeons, and it's the easiest to play because it's main source of damage is 1 Button spam, using a 2nd/3rd boosts, with a couple O-GCDs. Warrior has been king of dungeons since the introduction of Nascent Flash, and still is.

Dark Knight, requires skill if you wanna survive dungeons, I wouldn't recommend for new players. Playing the job, you need to master double weaving without slowing your Global Cooldowns, weaving as in off-global cooldowns. Off Global cooldowns operate on timed cooldowns, global cooldowns are the 2s+ delay attacks and combos you build upon. It's a job that's basically a 50 Cal LMG, so much power, a pain to reload.

Gunbreaker is a combo tank, meaning you will be single/double weaving a lot, less skill required to play, the whole plan for the tank is using everything in it's No Mercy window before the buff falls off.

Paladin is easy to play, but at the same time high skill ceiling for optimising the job, you must follow a rotation order, in order to play the job well. Paladin is really strong in dungeons after reaching 90 after the blades boost, it's Blade of Valor DOT tears trash mobs apart.

This is not blizzard. SE does not do such drastic nerfs, WAR didn't worry in Shadowbringers when their heal was also strong enough to heal through dungeons easily and they don't worry about nerfs now since in raids WAR is perfectly balanced.

Which is why a nerf to Bloodwhetting's healing wouldn't do a thing to it in raids, you got 2 healers to help you there.

    ^

On top of having Equilibrium which isn't that bad of a self-heal on its own.

I completely agree with this. WAR is pretty much smack dab in the middle with the other tanks in a savage setting. I think the two things the healers I run with say are. Warrior + tank busters = less stress. Our sustain is just to dang good with, Thrill, Equal, Bloodwhetting, Nascent (when shared or split busters in P3S), and the crème de la crème...Holmgang. The best part of P2S is that I can literally LAUGH at the shared tank buster 3 TIMES in the whole fight with holmgang.

And two....I feel warrior is a very versatile tank next to maybe paladin. I don't know how many times I saved a run with shake it off. The final downflow + Coherence...throw out shake it off and it gives the healers a little more peace of mind. Or tossed Nascent on a healer to keep them alive to then use LB3 when the crap hit's the fan.

I could gush about warrior all day! It's the easiest tank to play, has good damage, self sufficient, strong mitigation, and it's pretty rewarding.

Warrior suits me perfectly I suppose.

I prefer non-main jobs that are simple to play as well.
WAR is definitely one of it.
