Mocking people when you havent beaten any end game content, Your Cool! Why does SE INSIST on making XIV so forgiving?
It's red-iculous. I mean, I'm a PLD. I can heal, tank, and defend against most anything. I can die and get raised in a matter of seconds without disrupting the battle flow, which brings me to my next point. WHY oh WHY does SE INSIST on making this game so red-iculous? 10 major, cataclysmic screwups, and it's no biggy. Entire party wipes multiple times, we just get back up and try again with no real consequence except lost time. The NMs in said battles (ifrit, Garuda, Moogle) do so little to deter my team. It's like we have thousands upon thousands of HP. The DMG is just way too low, and its ONLY LEVEL 50. I could just smash buttons all day, and I'd still do just fine, and every run I'm ever in just wins no problem. It makes the game too fun. They really need to tone it up in 2.0 at least, or they'll be losing another customer, which they are already losing alot as it is. To any person that replies with "hurr hurr suck more" or something equally smart, I played XI for like six years and it was way more difficult THERE than it is HERE. I feel like I've progressed TOO QUICKLY, and it just gets worse day after day. I want to play a game that punishes me from day one, not one that rewards me day after day. It's just not fun. It just makes me want to quit MMOs all together, permanently.
While I don't agree that SE should make the fights easier, I do disagree with the whole 1-shot mechanic that is used too often. As a WHM, you can keep your tank and all others at full hp and a slow reaction/server lag (who really knows anyways why someone else didn't move in time) can cause a wipe. So if that is what the OP means, I'm all for a change. I'd like my fights made difficult by the fight itself, not just bad luck on a single move.
I suggest get a second healer to help you out, and ensure your party is playing their role. If they all go all out they can't expect a WHM to save their ass all the time.
If the people in your party understand how to control hate, your job will be much easier.
I do agree with this post. Not the fact that the difficulty needs to be toned down. The difficulty of the fights are just not done right. I don't like the fact that one simple little mistake really jeopardizes the entire fight. Fights in FFXI were difficult, but at least they played on fair terms and didn't use ridiculous methods to add difficulty.
Not to mention, this method of creating difficulty is what influences class stacking and exploits in the first place.
And then follow that up with something that kills the rest.
I have seen it far to often people will go from full hp to dead in less then a second. I don't care how good your gear or reaction time is there is no countering the i win button the mobs can deploy.

something along the lines of a token system or all of these point systems where you can turn in something that is acquired rather easily for another, more rare item at a high exchange rate is kind of on the same playing field as a random number gen to me. it's not the right direction to go-it might make you happy for all of this filler content but there are much more intuitive and inventive ways to distribute loot, reward skill and commitment and there are different areas of a game that different methods should be applied.
i'd like to see a lot more out of the dev team and some really original work; who knows if we'll get it but as you can see with garuda, SE is listening. the system for garuda is pretty perfect for the game we have currently on our plate.
i've got faith.
No death penalty i think is pretty forgiving.
Which Nyzul? I can solo pretty much every Nyzul boss, floor 20-floor 100 on normal Nyzul. I think on Nyzul Uncharted the Troll and Lamia are truly the only bosses you can't last without a WHM. Every Jailer can be done without a WHM, every Sea god but AV can be done without a WHM.
Dynamis is a different beast now, even with a bad pull, if you have a Blue Mage you're set for life.
...oh you were expecting someone to say "you're right, XI was totally unforgiven or it doesn't matter if you suck less if you dont have x,y,z job!"..sorry, but if you do suck less you can survive anything XI threw you at you. Try soloing as DRG/WHM without an Ares Curiass back in the day.
You do know your gear will break very..very fast if you constantly die, right? So it does exist, people just don't care because every day I run into people who parties/does end-game with broken gear or a broken weapon, mainly BRDS.
You should finish reading people post.
"ask people that did the airship fight before level-cap was destroyed what kind of chances SE give them."
That pretty much tells you the level cap I was referring to, or you need me to tell you?.
New people are so arrogant on old content, is like you where trying to tell me "I can solo Limbus!" or any of the new end game content in 11 have. And you talking to me about survivability? I was a red mage in my days, not the normal "kite this" kind or "pink mage", but the one that liked to use shield+sword and /blu as sub job. If you din't saw me tanking bosses in campaign, I was ether crafting or in a event.
By the way, campaign bosses where level 90+, if you guess my lvl cap right, I invited you to solo a lvl 115 mob, and take a whm just for fun, he should be pretty forgiven as drg/whm.
