    actually I got mine from garlean invasions.
    Also, people should learn to get items and such and play the game properly. Its not SE's fault if people aren't at their best when they aren't even trying anything other than hack and slash.

    this game is easy, play pre-wow era games then you'll see unforgiving, you say you played ffxi?? ffxi was harder and more tedious than ffxiv back before the made it noob mode.

    I'd have to disagree.

    FFXI = easier content and more unforgiving penalties.

    FFXIV = harder content and very forgiving penalties.

    FFXI and FFXIV = same horrible drop rates.

    A. You dont HAVE to have a primal weapon to do good dmg. You can have a single melded weapon and be fine, just know your job.

    B. If you understand the fights well enough, half the time you can dodge boss attacks and take no dmg (EX. Coincounter and Chimera).

    C. Take a break till 2.0, maybe it'll be easier.

    just because you cant win a fight doesnt mean its a failure on your fault for not healing fast enough

    maybe the people ou tun with suck at damagte mitigation/damage dealing so they cant down it quick enough or stay alive well enough?

    granted, you could also suck as a white mage, i dont know you

    A week ago my LS started grinding Ifrit for some weapons, at first we had nothing but wipes but after a day or two we were doing speed runs, like people have said most of these boss fights have "set in stone" mechanics and once you learn them you can faceroll most of them.

    Don't know what fight(s) you're having trouble with but I'm on Ridill also so hit me up sometime and maybe I can lend a hand.

    There is such a thing as a middle ground, though.

    Think of it as moves that should be avoided that aren't instant death if you don't. Bosses should have one or three moves that are insta-wipe if unavoided/uninterrupted, and others that may tax the healers but can be healed through if your healer is very good at their role and can react quickly enough (though personally healing still has a long way to go in this game before I can see it as effective and complete). Not to mention, you can have effects and mechanics that are detrimental over time rather than having one-shot moves from a boss. Could even be stuff that if left unchecked will lead to a wipe.
    Unfortunately, most people would rather do a choreographed fight that yields a miniscule chance at a weapon than a fight that is more fun.
    If I have the choice between an encounter with mechanics and environmental hazzards and crap like Absolute Virtue, /kneel for Odin, and Soul Eater+Kraken Club-zerging Kirin, I'm gonna go with the mechanics and environmental hazards.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
