Clicking and crackling audio

The audio is distorted with crackling, clicking and popping sounds.

Started with the last patch.

When it got unbearable, I restarted the game and it was ok for a short while then began again. Now restarting the game doesn't fix the audio problems at all.

Also since the patch, the ambient audio is messed up, there are outdoor sounds (birds, wind etc.) inside. This was tested in an inn room and the grand company barracks.

Updated to add: Restarting the computer doesn't fix the audio crackling and popping either.

Steps:
1. Log in
2. As soon as title screen opens, the audio crackles, pops and clicks.
3. Restart helped once, now no longer fixes the audio problem. The longer I'm logged in the more distorted it seems to become.

the workaround on the other post of opening Audio MIDI set up and changing the bitrate to 96 kHz helped a lot.

Same for me.

MacBook Pro 13" 2020 with MacOS 12.2.
Problem exists since patch 6.08. Crackling, clicking, stuttering sound, however you will call it. Starts directly at the start game screen and goes through the whole game.
Before patch 6.08 everything was fine.
