Just observation and trying a lot of things on together for glamours, and seeing how they interact.

From the basic knowledge that the character model is assembled in pieces, with parts of the body switched out for dressed lookalike pieces, you can start to understand how it goes together and the rules that the gear pieces need to follow.

There are only a few set lengths of gloves in the game, and long ones always have a band at the top, even if they're not solid fabric all the way up – look at things like the Ravel Keeper mage gloves that have bare arms (though model-wise the arms are actually part of the glove model) and a metal armband at the top where they connect to the body model to hide the join between the model parts.

AFAIK, even the one glove that looks like it breaks the rule ends up following it.
I can't remember the name of it, bit I use it on my BLM and Reaper.
It's from Heavansward IIRC, it has one armored sleeve with the other arm completely bare... except for one small band at the top, In the exact same place the band from the Ravel and Caster PvP gloves have it.
Which basically just confirms your theory on how it works lol

The modding community has done a lot to dissect how gear is created & works on the 3D side of things in FF14, and a lot of their documentation is floating around on the internet to read if you find the right discords/websites.

The primary reason that Iscah is alluding to with their post, is that FF14 gear is basically the equivalent of lego characters - there is no 'body' underneath your gear that pieces morph around, whenever you equip a new piece of gear, that piece literally replaces that whole section of your body, skin & all, like replacing a lego character head with a brand new one.

The Omega-F model was created initially with the idea the player would never be equipping the gear, hence several key attributes of the gear are designed to not have to worry about mixing with any other piece in the game, as Iscah mentioned. If they did, there would be a decent chance you'd see seams, open holes in the model from it not connecting to other pieces correctly, etc. Hence why they released it as an all in one: you don't have to worry about editing the design in order for it to play nice with other gear if they can't equip any other gear along with it.

Or even separate pieces of gear..

I don't really understand why square is doing these half-assed glam pieces when so much more could be done and they'd make a lot off of them if they were in pieces and the hairstyles came with them T_T . I do understand they're very busy but cmonnnn
I am pretty sure that type of clothing is one piece in reality too, especially female version.

Just been wondering why the bow is a no-no for a lot of people. I don't get it.

If you're capable of healing DRK back in ShB (or any tanks), then you'll heal EW DRK just fine.

I'd like the mog station team to start releasing the hairstyles with the character outfits, otherwise I'm not willing to buy them at all.

I just want the male outfit for my femme character. That bodysuit with the flashy neckline would be so pretty on her.

What people should be more annoyed about is the fact that it's in the mog station rather than obtainable through playing.

I will always remain of the opinion that a pay-up-front subscription based game shouldn't have a cash shop. Especially not one as elaborate as the one FF14 runs.
