While it's understandable, I will note I had a little bit of salt when the Eden's Promise tier had slightly higher healing requirements on the later fights and I saw DPS/tanks complaining in threads about "The healers need to gear up better so that these healing spots don't kill people if they've taken unplanned damage." when, y'know, in statics that had rules about "healers don't get gear until tanks have theirs, and tanks don't get gear until all the DPS have theirs."

Like... I'm sorry, how do you want your healers to gear up better than HQ overmelded stuff? Go raid outside the static and screw you out of boxes?

I aim to make my posts engaging and entertaining, even when you might not agree with me. And failing that, I'll just be very, VERY wordy.

Well at least there are tokens now. Back in 1.0 era, when Ifrit was added, you had only a personnal chest with a chance to drop a random weapon. If you already had the weapon when one did drop you got nothing. back then I got 6 blm staff in a row in over a hundred runs while someone else from my LS got every single weapons in less runs. RNG do be like that sometimes.

Honestly I always felt like RNG is just lazy design to artificially extend game time. RNG for non-essential, bragging right stuff is one thing but gear should be available at the same pace for two people that put the same effort into it.

Don't savage clears award totems to help alleviate bad loot rolls? or are those loot rolls as well?

They do, but because you can only get one a week, it does make for a very slow gearing process. An accessory takes four of the books from the first floor of the tier; if you need three accessories from the raid gear, it will take you 12 weeks. Similarly, the head/hands/feet take 6 of the tomes from the second floor, so if you need head and feet you'll also be taking 12 weeks to get both of those. Pants take 8 of the tomes from the third floor. Chest and weapon each take 8 from the final floor.

In contrast, if you win the rolls for the coffers, you could have like... two raid accessories the first week, rather than waiting two months.

I think the complaint is less about the fact that there isn't a "pity" mechanic with the tokens, and more that the mechanic in question is very slow in comparison to just winning the rolls.

This is just the nature of random. It's painful and unfair, always. Random loot shouldn't exist. I'd prefer that the only rewards from Savage were pages. Increase the number of pages per clear to 2 or 3 and you'd have a consistent and reasonably paced path for obtaining gear.

I can feel that. I cleared floor 1 for 3 weeks without winning any of the coffer rolls. FeelsBadMan.jpg mean while my fc mate got at least one coffer every clear.

Back in ARR I farmed King Mog when it was still endgame content for over 70 runs to get the axe and I only got it because the other warrior in that last run took pity on me for all the runs I had done.

    RNG is pain.
But as I like to joke around with it.
    Don't pray to RNGesus.
    Make a sacrifice to LOOTcifer.

I hate the fact that you basically get just one tome per duty completion outside of items you can roll on and I believe it's unfair. Imagine working your ass off in savage, learning your rotation and performing it to a t, pentamelding your stuff for better damage, learning every mechanic and contributing better than everyone in your group and then losing your piece to someone who's doing everything you do thousand times worse, now I'd be fuming. Even though rng seems to be friendly to me for the most part, I do believe there are people who do more and recieve nothing for their contribution.

Maybe having a reserved, guaranteed piece for those who do better than the rest? Idk, but please SE, actually reward people for playing well and encourage those who wanna do well.
