Character list order after moving characters between servers

With the Materia data centre on the brink of opening, I have what might be an odd question: if I move two characters originally on different servers to the same server, do they get listed in order of who was placed in that server first, or who was created first?

I'd prefer to move an alt first to see what the new server is like, but then I'd also like to keep my main character listed first on the character list, in case I drop down to the cheaper sub where I can only access one character per world.

Could just make an alt there to see what the server is like, then transfer your main and delete the alt.

When I moved my main & alt main to a diff server they took the 1st and 2nd slots of the new server's list (over the alts I had there) so I believe its by character creation order.
