    Level and iLevel

Seeing I got a good reply to my Black Mage I have another question.

I am at Level 41 but my Item Level is only 27, in my opinion much to low.
I do dungeons and daily's get very little which is useful or higher level then I have already.

What do I have to do to improve my Item Level ?

There are shops in every main city's marketplace that sell very cheep low item level gear (NOT THE MARKET BOARD). NPCs will be called like merchant, jewler, armor, tailor and such. They sell up to lvl 49. Good luck.

To get gear naturally you can do the dungeon closest to your level and from quests of your level, including job quests. You can press Recommend Gear in the character window to automatically equip the best item level gear from your armory chest.

You can buy it from the NPC merchants but this gear is low quality compared to the high quality versions sold on the market board, but they are usually more expensive on the market board.

Below level 50, it's common to be over 10 item level below your level because of how the quests give you gear.

Firstly, it doesn't really matter to keep geared up to your own level, but rather the content you are currently participating in. If you're at level 50 wearing level 30 armour while doing level 30 quests, you're fine.

Additionally, if you're keeping up with your job quests then you'll receive some good gear from the level 45 quest (head, arm, leg and foot gear only) and you can buy a level 44 weapon and body piece probably cheap on the marketboard, because the level 44 dungeon gear can be traded so they are often overstocked and selling cheap.

You'll get an upgraded i90 version of the job gear at level 50, this time including a body piece, and then the post-credits quests will start giving you free jewellery and weapons.

While leveling up to 50/between 50 and 60/60 and 70, etc, ilvl doesn't matter as much. As long as your gear is up to date on level, you ilvl will be where it needs to be as well. Ilvl only really matters during endgames.
And if you buy poetics gear whenever you hit those caps, your ilvl will be fine until the next expansion.

So if you do the above, ilvl is only really a concern at current endgame.

Although they are pretty useless for levelling due to the small amount of EXP they reward, level 1-50 battlecraft levequests do reward gear though, and, still have a chance of randomly dropping a piece of 'pink' aetherial gear during the quest from a treasure chest - it's the only way now to get aetherial gear as they've been removed from dungeons (which instead drop new green gear with unique colouring).

Unlocking retainer ventures and sending your retainers off on 'quick' ventures also have a chance of them bringing back green or even blue gear, depending on your level, their level, and the gear you've equipped them with.

Nah, still available from treasure maps. And I think there's still some knocking around in dungeons... although I may be thinking of just the accessories for both sources..
