Reaper and Sage canon in The First?

Something that I've been wondering, from a lore perspective; would the Reaper and Sage jobs released in Endwalker be "canon" to the world of The First? Like, if someone from that world would be able to learn said job, or at least some counterpart? For instance, there's Ran'jit, who fights extremely similar to a Reaper - including having several of the same abilities, the same fighting style, and an allied summon - but would he really be considered a counterpart to our Reapers?

Anyone got any answers for this? Truth be told, it was part of an RP issue I was having, and I asked around on several other sites, but Reddit and Discord were wildly inconsistent, and the ffxiv-roleplayers site seems to be pretty much dead at this point, so if anyone can give me an answer, I'd appreciate it.

Isn't it stated somewhere (maybe just a dev comment, maybe an art book?) that the snake and Ranjit's family had a pact or something? If so, I think its very safe to say he's the equivalent to a reaper, even if perhaps his snake was native to the First instead of being voidsent. Same principle.

No equivalent to SGE, as far as I know.

That's a good point, Alleluia; I also did some digging myself, and I found that you can purchase weapons for both Reaper and Sage in The First; Sha-Tistt sells them in The Crystarium. Assuming that this isn't just gameplay and story segregation for the sake of convenience, then this indicates pretty strongly that Reaper and Sage are both viable jobs on The First. What do you guys think?

I never really consider it too deeply to be honest because ultimately it is a game, and game mechanics will trump most other things.

That said, in my head canon, other players we meet are just generic adventurers without any specific job. And I always saw tomestone vendors as not having a huge stockpile of items waiting to trade, but rather we come in with materials and specifications we want them to make. That is to say, sage weapons exist in Eulmore because we are specifically asking them to make it.

My first thought would be that G'raha imported the idea of nouliths with the Crystal Tower, but the existence of Ravel Keeper Wings and Nabaath Pendulums indicates their use predates the Flood of Light.

I will personally always assume it's just gameplay unless in-universe events give me reason to believe they may be actively integrating something into the lore.

Scythes and nouliths aren't super special things, though. Scythes and scythe-like tools appear just about anywhere with agriculture, so, Ranjit aside, we don't have to reach very far to explain away the scythes on the First as just being farming tools that people sometimes decide to use as weapons. As for the nouliths, the Sage quests say they were originally magic rocks and are now essentially just specialized short staves. So any culture with rod- or scepter- wielding mages could have a cache of weapons suitable for repurposing to the sage arts. That the game categorizes them as nouliths for our benefit need not imply that their original in-universe wielders were sages or practitioners of sage-like arts. They could have used them as scepters or wands for thaumaturgy or conjury until we found them and decided we could maybe use them for pewpew and healazors.

You can get Dragoon gear (explicitly draconic-themed Dragoon gear, at that) from the First, a world with no dragons. I wouldn't think too hard about if a job could exist over there, they just... do, somehow.

Lets be fair for Sage lol, the form of the Nouliths can be literally anything (Imperial Magitek being literally miniguns) as long as it contains a catalyst you could use anything at all for a Noulith.
Basically if you can channel Sage magic through the item, you can use it as a Noulith.

So theoretically, the ones we find in the First could have been used for purposes entirely unrelated to Sages, they just happen to match the magical methodology of the job.

For Tome gear etc, it could be argued that the artisans on the first were consulted on the necessary weapon designs for jobs that don't appear naturally in their world and we buy the what they came up with.

And while the first doesn't have dragons, they do have creatures that strongly resemble dragons which can serve the same sort of inspirations.
