Here's some advice. Just keep it simple with each category of abilities together or in sequence.

As dragoon I have my basic damage combo as 1-2-3-4-5 (Thrust combo + Fang and claw + Wheeling Thrust) (and next to each other on the action bar)

1-R-ShiftR as my DoT combo. (and next to each other on the action bar)

AoE Combo is MouseButton-ShiftMouseButton-ControlMouseButton (and next to each other on the action bar)

My damage jumps are V, Shift V, and Control V (and next to each other on the action bar)
