Is artifact armor infinitely recoverable?

I really like the artifact armor sets, even though my character is set with a job agnostic glam, but I'm terrified of, like, opening the chests for the older sets or taking ones off the SHB vendor unless I plan to use them somehow because I'm not sure how recoverable they are.

So I want to ask this question once and for all:

If I destroy an artifact piece, is it gone forever? I remember seeing NPCs that refund various sets but I can't recall with that distinction was. I know it can't go in the armoire so I'm kind of really nervous about creating clutter or destroying them as an omnijobber.

So yeah, that's my question: will the game have my back if I just pitch these, accidentally or otherwise? Can I ever get them back?

The level 50, 70, 80 and 90 ones can be rebought either from the calamity salvager or the npc that originally gives them. The level 60 one can only be rebought with centurio seals

Well that's both a relief and kinda random on the part of the level 60 ones, thanks for clearing that up! I haven't gone deep into hunts so I don't know if that's more or less a pain in the ass, but at least they are recoverable, thanks!

The reason the lvl 60 ones are different is because they tried to do something new by having the AF gear be Tome gear in HW. Clearly it didn't go the way they wanted because they have never done it again.

On level 50, when i had dumped the ilvl 90 armor that you get from that chest you receive at the end of the job quest, i needed to do snowcloak over and over arbitrarily to get some "antique" armor pieces to excange in Mor Dhona for the actual wearable armor set, which was kinda dull. You can buy the lower ilvl one from salvagers, but not that one for some illogical reason.

It is for the exact same reason as the lv. 60 ones. The lv. 50 i90 AF used to be tomestone gear, on ARR release.

The reason the lvl 60 ones are different is because they tried to do something new by having the AF gear be Tome gear in HW. Clearly it didn't go the way they wanted because they have never done it again.

Yeah, not only was it tome gear but it was the weekly capped tome gear at the time. People were annoyed by it because if you wanted your cool job specific gear you had to grind for weeks, and because it was job specific you had to grind it out on every single job you wanted to gear up during that patch, instead of being able to double/triple/quadruple dip as you would with normal tome gear.

Now, the gear was good, it was endgame content gear instead of just beginner gear, but at the end of the day the entire concept was just a bad idea and i'm glad they've never revisited it.

The ShB and EW vendors will always give you a new set. Always.
To the point you can gear out your retainer in the artifact gear, go back to the vendor, and get another set. And repeat as many times as you like.

The level 50, i50 and the level 70 sets, yes. The level 50, i90 and the level 60 sets, no.

The level 50/60 i90/200 sets were originally tomestone gear, rather than being quest or achievement rewards, so they're not available from the Calamity Salvager. You can rebuy them fairly cheaply with hunt seals though.

If you want the lvl 80 job gear to be dyable you'll need to complete an extreme trial over and over again, keep that in mind if you want to dispose of it.

Is that EX trial still bad or can it be easily beaten now?
