Anyone from Australia playing on Japan DC use a lag reduction program with success?

    Hi,
Has anyone has any luck with programs such as exit lag etc.
I've had a look on YouTube etc, and most of the vids are sponsored so cant be sure whether they are legit.
I tried exit lag and went from 162 down to 112, has anyone seen better ?
I'm asking as I'm not certain that I'm going to OCE and want to raid in the near future.

There is nothing you can do against the lag when the distance between you and the data center is too big.

At what point does ping effect raiding?
I have read alot of different figures, i havnt experienced any lag at all during the msq dungeons or trials etc, but apparently in extremes etc thats where it is cause for concern.

It varies from game to game whether ping is important or not. FF14 is not very ping dependent because it has a long global cooldown. But it will be always noticable when the ping is too high. And if you want do some hard content then it could be a game breaker. Because you can not use weaving in a predictable way. I have an alt on a NA server and i notice the difference. EU servers are way smoother for me. Not only during a fight but also when i click on a NPC and the dialogs need a little bit longer to open etc.

I don't know how sensible you are to lag. But if you very sensible then you should consider to transfer to an OZ server when they open in four days. You could also make an alt on an OZ server and play a little bit with it. If you do not want to transfer immedialely. You will still get an impression whether the lag is better or not.

    Cheers

Depending on your Job it can go anywhere from unfortunate to "unplayable" IMO. I've seen several optimized rotations and openers require double weaving. There's some bad-ping alternatives but those might not be free of it either. Plus mechanic telegraphs can be weird sometimes where you swear you moved away in time but get hit anyway.

Hello. I'm from New Zealand and I raid on NA. Been raiding Savage since ARR and cleared all ultimates. My ping sits about 140 and its caused me zero problems in savage or extreme trials. You'll be fine.

Thanks for the replies all, as i said , i haven't experienced any lag, and am hoping that when i get into the harder raids it doesn't change, I don't want to give up my house on JP DC for reduced ping if i really dont have to.
I guess i could make a alt on OCE to test it out first, but regardless it will be hard to tell if ill get a house there, and its going to be a long wait to find out.
My FC is also moving to OCE but still leaving the original FC on JP, where i also have a nice room set up, and a apartment.

It's unlikely you are going to get lower than 112(ish) with software, at that point you've stripped 95% of the routing issues out, the rest is just the physical issues. If you're hoping to get 20ms like being in the same city as a datacentre then that ain't happening. That said, at 112 the only thing that should affect are fast interrupts and eaking out the last 1% of DPS for Savage.

Agreed. No further reduction to be had.
