An educated rant: Why pentamelding is %@$&*!-backwards

My entire static owes our crafter friend dozens of gil for the hours they spent making our crafted gear, food and pots! And on top of that WE have to make the effort to get the materia for that gear?! We literally do not have the gil required to teleport, and now Square Enix wants us to participate in the absolutely broken Aether economy to buy the bare minimum required to complete the dps checks? It's absurd, and I believe they should delete materia completely! I play FF14 to escape my crippling debt, not to be further indebted to crafters who spend hours a day pressing two keys on their keyboard!

Or you can just craft yourself and do it for yourself

Also you can do dailies, where u get materia as achievement that you can sell. Level 9 direct hitrate materia (yes level 9 not 10) sells for 12k at morning hours and around 5k in the afternoons.

Another option is to socialize and be friends with people, you would be surprised how helpful some people are for free if you just give them two nice words...

Some people only enjoy crafting in this game and they will always be catered to because YoshiiP said he wants this game to be a palce you go to relax if you want to. The fact that you choose to stress on getting the gear as fast as possible to run savage raid as fast as possible, IS YOURS!

You can choose to wait to run raids when item prices go down, as they usually do.

I was about to suggest spending a few because you can level a crafter 80-90 in one hour or so with just the quest Deliveries and Levequests without even leaving Sharlayan, but nevermind that...

What? How is this possible, money rains from the sky in this game. At L90 you should have millions lying around even without doing crafting or other money making, just from duties and roulettes.

I asked my crafter friend if they would like to make my food, clothing and medicine irl as well and they shouted profanities and told me I was being snide. I thought I made a very reasonable proposal.

If you enjoy combat so much, why don't you transfer that passion into a combat sport? I think this is a very reasonable proposal.

I've got degrees in Music, Botany, and Earth Sciences; including Graduate level work. That seems awfully close to the Bard, Botanist, and Miner jobs to me. I've got the skills to make rudimentary clothing as well. For hobbies, I enjoy keeping aquariums, building and painting models, fishing, and cooking. I even have the XIV cookbook, so yes, I could actually make in-game food for you.

Tell me again how I haven't transferred my passion for in-game crafting into real life. Or, was it my real-life passions that translated into me enjoying equivalent experiences in game?


If you're so hard pressed for money, start gathering, materials are going for more than the finished goods on many servers these days.

If you're so hard pressed for materia, focus on spirit bonding and extracting materia from your combat gear.

You need to get down from whatever height you're at and keep quiet about crafters.
