Casual content doesn’t have DPS checks and if they do it’s too mild to notice

The thing is that back in heavensward, there was a reason to have a tool to assist in figuring out how to do the best damage simply because of how complicated some of the juggling was. Anyone who played Dark Knight during HW knows exactly how crazy that gets, and most people who remember having to manage TP and also remembering to counter boss critical strikes would remember that.
The new age design they have makes damage dealing incredibly simple on the jobs they have streamlined. As long as someone is paying attention to what the new moves are they get and practices properly when leveling up, they will get better and eventually just click things into place.
The main barrier that comes into play to mastering a job is weak content.
You say that, but many players aren't motivated to even do simple things like maintaining DoTs and buffs. Haven't you ever been in a group where the BRD didn't sing or the MNK ignores positionals? The thing is that back in heavensward, there was a reason to have a tool to assist in figuring out how to do the best damage simply because of how complicated some of the juggling was. Of course I have. I also remember back in ARR when I was a noob running around with a gladiator sword and could barely make it through some of the early guildhests and job quests. Boy have we come a long way since then.
That kind of problem isn't from a lack of tools. The reason that we got that happening is the content being way too easy. People are not being forced into having to use those skills, so they naturally don't learn to use them. Right now the only place that forces optimization is savage. We need content that pushes people hard. People should wipe and die and lose progress. After all, a part of playing a game and having that rush of enjoyment is having felt the sting of loss.
I'm a firm believer that if a community has people complaining about hardship, than we are in a good place and should stay there.

I feel like I must be missing something here; this doesn't seem like it should be so hard.
Person A: Hey, Person B, may I offer some advice that might help us clear this DPS check?
Person B: [Yes/No]
Person A: [If yes, offer constructive advice. If no, then the DPS meter isn't going to help.]
I guess I'm confused about your point. You describe a situation where a group of people established a rule about a clear party and you chose to do your own thing even though you hadn't cleared, admit that you might be in the wrong but it's okay because it worked out, and then describe that the moral of the story is that it's not about unilaterally deciding what's best for the community. Isn't that a microcosm of doing exactly that?Because as I stated earlier, not everyone is looking for a carry or to be lazy. Some people, even such as myself, will join a party to learn a fight. Maybe I didn't get a clear there, but I felt comfortable enough to move to a clear party because I now know all of the mechs and confidently feel like I can clear the content even though the party I was with was incapable of learning the mechs. By most people's definition here, I'm in the wrong because I haven't cleared the content and shouldn't be joining a clear party, but guess what, I still cleared it.
I went outside of how you wanted me to play. I didn't mold to how you wanted me to play, because one particular person doesn't make the rules. This is an online community where each individual pays a monthly subscription to be part of and only the devs/GMs should have a right to tell me how I spend my time during that subscription. This game is supposed to be fun, not like high school.
I guess my final point is this. You pay to be part of a community, not to make rules for that community. If you want to do that, I'm sure SE is hiring.
Cast aside your fears of judgment and just do. Get good and ram it down and assert your superiority instead of cowering and whining about people being mean. Strip away the distance between and become equal. Cast them down through strength. Seize opportunity instead of reinforcing a culture of cowardice.

There's isn't any problem with how the current system works. If you're frustrated by low dps, then get friends and don't play with random players, recruit people out of discord servers or your FC instead.
No one is stopping you from using any plugins or parsing, the only thing it stops is players from beating some random over the head with dps or uptime numbers in a roulette or party finder game.
The entire discussion is pointless because the developers have been asked over and over about including official dps meters for years and every time the answer is always the same, no. No, there will never be any official parsers or dps meters in the game because the devs are certain it will lead to harassment and toxicity. They have said many times it's don't ask, don't tell if you want to use a 3rd party one but they will never include one ever in the game.
