Considering Microsoft just bought out Blizzard, We may not see a FFXIV over on Xbox. Now of course I could be wrong. I am not sure on all the legalities of rival game companies being on the same console.

Porting FFXIV to Xbox Series S/X should be trivial from a game code perspective. The challenging part is corporate negotiations to allow crossplay and one subscription only.
Xbox has an offer that no other console has in that it’s widely available in stores and is only $300. The base PS5 can only be purchased online and the vast majority of units go for $700 or more. Even the PS4 brand new costs around $300-400 and can’t be bought in store either. How are people supposed to buy a machine to play FFXIV if they don’t currently have one? It only makes sense for it to work on the console that’s most easily within reach for consumers at the moment, otherwise it risks being inaccessible the longer these production delays continue.
As far as performance is concerned, the Xbox would not hold FFXIV back in any significant way. People should be more worried about the PS4, and not for the reasons that you think. If Square Enix drops consoles, you can expect empty servers and long queues. It’s better to have some bad graphics but with a robust playerbase. And given that the Xbox alleviates the concern of performance, there is only upsides to expanding the playerbase (only after they expand servers, of course).
As indicated in Yoshida’s most recent press interview, the developers do read the forums and in all languages, so it’s good for a thread like this to exist to show that a consumer demand for an Xbox port exists.

I use a xbox controller on PC. I used to use the playstation one but it broke. lol You could use any controller you like. You don't have to be glued to your PC to play with a controller, just connect your PC to your TV or projector and enjoy the game! Bring a wireless mouse and keyboard too for added bonus because you dont' want to play an MMO without it. It would be awful to chat with a controller only lolWith the latest acquisition of Activision, the overall offerings provided by the Microsoft platform are looking even more attractive.
In addition, their Azure platform is going to expand their footprint in the cloud gaming market as well. They are already a force to be reckoned with in the Enterprise computing space.
I have read news articles in the past about some sort of effort to bring FFXIV to Xbox, and I'm hoping that some folks at SquareSoft are looking at the current landscape and considering expanding the market for this wonderful game to people on the Xbox.
I invested in my first console (obviously Xbox X) today. I've always owned Sony consoles and my last one was PS3 till I switched to computer gaming. With WFH due to pandemic, I've decided to invest in a console so I'm not glued to my computer.
Long story short, I hope there's an effort, it can only be good for the game.
