SAM icon colors kind of throw me off

How about you guys? Seems it would make more sense for the damage icon to be red, and the speed to be blue; or green would be even better as that is more consistent with the game's engine and lore.

It's taken some getting used, but right now I'm refreshing the wrong buff during combat.

Samurai's action set revolves around the "Snow, Moon, Flowers" theme from Japanese art, which often uses cherry blossoms. That's why many of the flower-related graphics are pink/red, including the sen and speed buff. If the moon sen were blue and the flower sen red, but the moon buff was red and the flower buff blue, might it not be even more confusing?

Ah, don't mind my brain. I should have pieced that together, and it makes total sense. That really helps me remember now. TYTY.

Blue should be speed because of Sonic and red should be power because of Knuckles, SE is stupid.

I know this comment is semi-satirical, but this isn't far from how a lot of gamers perceive things. I'm an old school gamer, and the color red has very much been associated with damage. The 'fire' buttons on controllers were typically red. 'Fire Power' mushrooms in Mario were red. Fireball spitting Yoshi is red. The default setting is red for the damage text in game; examples could be made all day long.

After the change, I noticed I kept refreshing the wrong buff. My brain doesn't snapshot when I used either Jinpu/Mangetsu or Shifu/Oka previously. I totally go by the icons and which one has the lowest time remaining; so when I see the red icon having the lowest time, I am inclined to do so with Jinpu/Mangetsu since they are the damage boosters.

Not too big of a deal. I just went upstairs and reversed the wiring. As odd as that sounds, that is all I had to do to remedy the problem.

I prefer that they would have kept the original weaponskill icon of Jinpu and Shifu actually.
I'm somewhat adapted to the new icon now but I still think the change isn't good.

Common sense is not so common anymore.

They did this on monk and dragoon too, and it's really thrown me off. Not sure why the icon needed to change.

I think because they've changed it so the AOE skills also apply the buff, so it doesn't make sense for it to be associated with the single attack. At least I assume that's the logic.

I guess I should confess I never bothered to remember the colors.

I have the three skills associated with each of the buffs in positions on my hotbar that is in the same configuration as the job HUD. So I just keep track of the "left buff" and the "right buff". Same for the AOE skills.

In the same way, I put my RDM spells in the same relative position as the job HUD, so I don't actually remember which spells give black mana or which gives white mana. I just remember use them as "left spells" and "right spells".
