Wait... there are reskins of the freaking ZODIAC WEAPONS?!?

I'm several years too late on this, I'm sure, but having recently acquired and finished my first Zodiac weapon (Excalibur & Aegis), I was honestly stunned today when I joined a group, and saw a guy wielding the same weapon -- except it was simply a green item.

I'm personally hoping to finish one of each expansion's Relic weapons, if only to experience more of the story. But I'm not gonna lie, knowing there could well be easy-to-access reskins of any of those weapons... that kills a lot of the excitement, and feeling of these weapons being "special".

I've heard people complain about reskins and recolors before, but that's the first instance I'd encountered where I genuinely felt like something I'd earned was suddenly *less cool*, because such an easy-to-access version exists.

They are colored differently and they do not glow. There's not really any competition there. The originals with or without their glows are better.

Nothing is sacred in this game. They just made a coveted PVP set the new crafted gear, usually only people who chose to suffer trough pvp had it, now everyone has it and it's not as special anymore. Just be ready for them to make a important boss a normal mob, a rare item become a common worthless item (like the tons of minions that are have essentially zero value now because of the loot boxes) and stuff like that. It's how they operate.


I remember when I started playing, the minion morpho was the most expensive item on the marketboard, worth tens of millions. It was an aspiration of mine to one day have it. Now it's worthless, less than 1.000 gil.

I promise you the actual Zodiac weapons are leagues prettier than these reskins. These reskins don't glow and the real ones do. This is coming from me finishing BRD relic recently and it's glow is gorgeous. Same with SCH and WHM.

But the ARR relic is a literal nightmare (mainly books). And the light farm is headache-indcuing. But the weapon outcome makes for a great glam.

The glow makes the zodiac weapons unique and beautiful, without them the models range from lackluster to alright. I have the nirvana zeta and let me tell you, the lvl 70 reskin does not look anywhere close as good. The warrior and blackmage reskins look fairly good but nowhere close to the real deal.

Yea sure buddy, I suffered so much for my daily frontline when you get massive rewards (including exp) even for doing literally nothing. Or when the latest moogle tome hunt is making hidden gorge the best casual tome farm. I dont even know what I should do with all my wolf marks and that's just from daily frontline.

"Coveted"? Really? It's a wolfmark set that's bern out for years. You can get it within like a week by doing the pvp roulette each day. It's not like they made a pvp champion set a crafted set.

Woot? I've been sitting on 20k/20k wolf mark for months now 'cause I do a PvP roullete a day, for "leveling" 'cause it's one of the best EXP source. The PvP gears are as special as a random dungeon drop that I trade for GC seal.

I managed to get the Makai Master title back in the Garo event and I hate PVP.

The gear isn't like the Feast mounts where you actually have to be good at PVP. You just need to do it, and do your best not to drag down your team, and win or lose, you get stuff.

That said, I finished ALL OF THE ZODIAC WEAPONS TO ZETA. ALL OF THEM. ALL OF THEM.

And I really could not give two whits about their non glowy versions being available as green reskins.
