I'm pretty sure Riskbreaker is just a title with no inherent ability or combat style linked to it. The game's combat was basically just reliant on properly timing your attacks.

Corair would be awesome.Same. It's still DEX-based, would have been much better for melee gear distribution (2:2:2 for striking/aiming/maiming) and glamour would have been... well, some wins and some losses by its back catalogue, but much easier to have some dancer and some ninja gear than trying to cater for all three ranged sets at once.
Still, given what we've got to work with, I like the idea of Corsair (cutlass/pistol combo maybe) as some people have suggested in previous threads. Trickster/juggler sounds interesting too.![]()
I'd really like a Far Eastern-style monk job that wields bo staffs like the iconic Whale Whisker.
Would also provide an excuse to reuse some of the staff weaponskills from XI.
Nothing specific, but it'd make for a cool job name and I'm imagining something with a lot of focus on combo attacks combined with a crossbow as an off-hand weapon.
Though it isn't the exact same place, 'Lea Monde' exists in name within FFXIV so there's a solid way to tie something directly inspired by Vagrant Story to the game itself.

Assuming scouting implies a melee dps and not ranged, I don’t think an Arabian-themed Mystic Knight would be too far off.
I wouldn’t mind some kind of Corsair/gambler/jester/assassin type that uses a sword + ranged weapon/bombs etc.
I think the “hard” part at this point is creating a mechanic gimmick that feels fun and at least appears unique.

Well I definitely wouldn't be opposed to the idea, weren't they kind of like a medieval elite secret agent type of thing?Nothing specific, but it'd make for a cool job name and I'm imagining something with a lot of focus on combo attacks combined with a crossbow as an off-hand weapon.

As I remember it, there was a risk meter that if it went too high would cause your combos to miss (I might be completely wrong on how it functioned, it's been awhile). That could probably be converted into the job guage. I don't think it would be too difficult to have some of the combo chains converted to gcd abilities, though there would need to be a different method for keeping them going.
It's been a while since I played it as well, but I think in addition to making it more likely to miss with high risk you took more damage from certain enemy attacks as well. I suppose that would be too 'unfair' to balance as anything other than a limited job in FFXIV, though.Well I definitely wouldn't be opposed to the idea, weren't they kind of like a medieval elite secret agent type of thing?

As an aside, Vagrant Story, Final Fantasy XII and Legend of Dragoon are the three JRPG's I most wanted to see remastered someday. Given that I was lucky enough to see the second receive that treatment, maybe the other two will follow...

I say Corsair, Buccaneer, Pirate. However you wanna put it that is my idea of the next scouting job. Main hand would be a sword and imo they would have oGCDs or bursts with explosives and ranged attacks ie gun. Maybe even put in some Gambler into it.
An "original" job that combines Vagrant Story's Riskbreaker, with Zidane from IX's version of thief.
Double-ended Swords, and a pseudo limit break system using Dynamis powered skills.

We're not going to have "dynamis-powered" skills except perhaps with no idea that it's what they are. (See: dancer quests in light of Endwalker.)
