I disagree, it barely takes a mediocum of thought and like 5 secs of dungeon play to know a drg teather is good. By this logic, all sparkly ground/circle effects are bad, yet healers have them as well as bosses...While I generally agree about the loss of interesting visuals, DS's tether was always problematic. The game drills into our heads that tethers are bad and need to be broken ASAP but then is like "lol, not that one though." I can't even count the number of times I've given someone DS only for them to freak out and run away trying to break the tether (see also, Cover.)
