Summoner utility is really strange. Radiant Aegis isn't always available but it last 30 seconds so you just have to predict when you'll need it early. Phoenix gives a raidwide heal and a single target heal but it's part of a two minute rotation so it's also not always available. Physic is just awful and useless. Meanwhile RDM always has access to Vercure and while they both can revive RDM is notably better at it. Magic Barrier doesn't require you to shift your entire DPS rotation to be useful and can be placed where it's needed because of this. Summoner Utility just isn't up to par and I'm definitely not seeing how Manaward on Black Mage comes remotely close to either class in usefulness.

Ah yes, that extremely limiting Phoenix heal that perfectly aligns with:

    - tankbuster, biggest hitting raidwide, Fourfold Chains and final raidwide spam in P1S
    - Coherence, Channeling Flow, Channeling Overflow and the other Coherence in P2S
    - Darkened/Brightened Fire, add-phase Blazing Rain ticks, Flames of Undeath, entire Firestorms of Asphodelos phase and finally Life's Agonies in P3S.
    - Should I keep going?

You know what's curious about those mechanics I've mentioned? A lot of them are mechanics where Magick Barrier would be used. You guys would get more sympathy if you were to stop underplaying everything SMN has and claiming an equivalent of Cure II has some raid saving capabilities.

Currection. It's the equivalent of a scuffed Physick. Nothing that takes two gcds is equivalent to a Cure II.

It's easy to dismiss Manawall when comparing to every job that happens to have a personal defensive cooldown, like Bloodbath or Second Wind or Shining Aegis.

The comparison here though is with RDM, which is the only dps in the game without a personal defensive cooldown of any sort. This makes them the squishiest dps in the game and on some fights they require a biiiit extra from a healer. Sometimes a RDM just dies because the healer didn't take this into account.

You do know healing is painfully easy to heal in this game, right? Like over capping hp can be done with basic healing tools and medical 2 or aspect Helios is overkill in lot of cases even in prog.

That's the problem with a DPS with healing capabilities...it's ultimately worthless while mitigation can make a difference. A measly 10% mitigation in prog goes a long way to surviving raid wides.
Like even if you have a case where a war/dark/gnb inv and have their HP reduce to 1, a healer is still going to use the same resources to cap their hp. The unkindle isn't fast enough to save someone that took an additional hit.

Maybe if a WAR couldn't go brrrr with self heals and the immediate response to living dead/SB wasnt benediction and essential dignity spam, it might be useful.

Smn heals only help achieve the same results slightly faster. Like it can help with auto attacks, but if your group is getting pressed on autos, then you have a much bigger problem
