Praise for RDM design

This expansion I'm enjoying casters (Might actually give BLM a go.), but I need to find a way to optimize RDM. I'm finding myself falling down the threat list and I'm a bit embarrassed being used to melee.

Also, after Crit, do you use spell speed or go Direct Hit? Figured it'd be DH due to the nature of how RDM works but I'm getting conflicting advice all over the place.
