The danger of trying to critique a job before it's incomplete is you might end up ignoring later mechanics that actually answer your questions.
The casting doesn't service the 'more interesting melee.' It enables the melee which in turn enables your REAL finishers.
If someone just #yolo's in to the boss without a timer, I use a truncated version of the opener with similar alignment. Jolt -> Verthunder -> Acceleration -> Verthunder -> Embolden + Manafication + the rest of a normal opener starting at that point. You don't start your Swiftcast running as quickly, and you're behind a bit on initial mana, but it still aligns the raid buffs with the 3rd GCD where most people aim to use them, and gets your Acceleration rolling.Otherwise in the average run where someone pulls without countdowns or it's a dungeon where no one does a countdown then I just wing it, go into my melee phase with embolden and manafication. Acceleration is best used as a movement tool and to proc verfire or verstone (use acceleration on thunder or aero, in dungeon pulls you can use it on impact since it gets a damage buff under acceleration). You can sit on one stack of Acceleration (just don't let it sit at 2 for too long) if you need it to move or to proc fire/stone as jolt is used only if you have no other options to start with.
