    I'm 99% certain they used to give the same XP as FATEs of same level in ShB launch, but now it seems to be significantly less. Or maybe it was SB. Either or.

    Anyways, I found them worth doing while waiting for dungeon queues and cleaning a map up does give you quite a big chunk of XP. Then again, I was planning on doing all of the quests regardless, so there's that.

    I don’t necessarily mind the dungeon span, even on dps, because I’m currently using the time between que pops to level crafters. Or gathering crafting materials on my gatherers so I’ve still got things I’m doing besides just sitting there. I do see that not everyone does this so dungeon spam could be tedious.

    Seems like a confusing waste of time, imo.

    I would love to re-do the MSQ a few more times and really enjoy the brilliant storytelling, and be able to use that time to work on alt jobs.

    It's not very viable to have people only do solo duty stuff to level up for the lifetime of a game. Having people run dungeons/trials/raids/etc. as their primary way to get EXP keeps old and new content alive, and lets people who haven't finished story content to have players join and help them complete the content. Having such a lucrative source of EXP such as New Game+ would make queue pops a lot less frequent for optional content that doesn't involve the MSQ (which kills older content overtime). It's sorta why PvP still gets played regularly - because Frontlines Roulette exists.

    Generally, FATEs & Sidequests don't give that much exp because they're only to supplement leveling throughout MSQ, in addition to being a reward for Bicolor gems/Relics/Orchestrion Scroll/Minions/Food/Emotes/Gear/Materials. The ones that reward a lot of EXP for its level is usually the ones with the bonus EXP attached to FATEs. It's nice optional content, but doesn't feel mandatory to do.

    Mainly, Alt jobs get leveled up through roulettes to encourage & help newer players with their duty progression. The speed of leveling up with alt jobs through daily roulettes is generally fast enough unless you're specifically grinding / purposely rushing each job to max level cap. You can get a level or 2 per day using all of the roulettes with the bonus exp and whatever dungeon exp gives. Probably half a level more if you do MSQ roulette. Make sure to get full use of additional supplemental EXP stuff too, such as Khole's book, eating food, and logging out in a Sanctuary for Rested EXP bonus. Those things stack up overtime. Every week, if you complete the Khole's book, it's worth 1/2 a level to a level of EXP for a job, which helps speed up past capstone leveling (since lv 50/60/70/80 capstones usually reward less exp than leveling dungeons).

    Edit: Also forgot to include accessories for supplemental EXP. IIRC, Friendship Circlet gives a 20% EXP increase up to lv 25. Brand New Ring works to level 30 with a 30% EXP increase. Ala Mhigan Earring/Aetheryte Earring/Menphina Earring gives 30% EXP bonus if you pre-ordered an expansion (up to 50/70/80). Alternatively, you can use the Bozja Earring (+10% EXP increase) from 71 to 80 if you haven't pre-ordered the earring.

    Squadron Battle Manual gives a 15% Bonus EXP in combat. Heat of Battle (FC Buff) also gives 5% to 15% depending on which level of buff you use.
    No joke, leveling through dungeons is pretty fast once you use all the additional EXP resources.

    If you still feel leveling up is slow... don't forget, next level cap isn't until another 2 years. Plenty of time to get all jobs to 90 and still overcap on EXP for a long time imo. Having NG+ give EXP on top of that feels like overkill.

    Fates are good till like level 20, then they drop off. Hunting Log lasts bit longer but ends at 50. If the job is a tank or healer it can spam roulette but to get optimal exp it should bypass it and queue to highest level instances it has access - degrading the value of roulette. DPS jobs are screwed as their queue is way longer and that's for the roulette itself. Beast Tribes are handy, side quests pretty much dead. EW fates if you get a fate train then like 20 per level or something like that, depending on level so also bit absurd.
