We need to break free from the holy trinity! So, I was just subjected to the half the party leaves Castrum event and I got to say it's dumb and it should be an actionable offense besides the penalty. You willingly queued into a roulette and left when it wasn't the one you wanted. You know the risks involved when queuing into it. You are affecting other peoples experiences when you do this and then they have to requeue into it and have to wait however long it takes.
I understand things can happen and you have to leave, sometimes at the very beginning of a duty, but for those that intentionally do it, yeah you know who are, should be some form of actionable punishment.
Luckily my group just pugged it: Me as Reaper(Tank), Dancer, Ninja and Astro. It took us 32 mins to do it from start to finish with cutscenes included so no excuse as to why
So there needs to be change on some level for it whether it be an actual offense or some thing much more milder than that. I'm just looking out for other rather than myself.
Thank you for listening to my TED talk whomever you are!
Holy shit bro. There's allegedly 4 people on the report team, and you wanna clog up their already-overflowing report queue with this childish bs? And to take your time and expend this much effort over something so petty is amazing. I can't imagine having such a blessed life that this is the big problem to go after that day. Lol wow. I've never bailed on a duty bc it wasn't what I wanted but wouldn't give two F's if anyone else did.It is an actionable offense.
TIP...If you are queued for MSQ Roulette and get Castrum:
- Once the instance starts (the pen around the group disappears), swing your character's camera view around to see the party face on and take a screen shot. Wait till after the pen disappears, otherwise those who are still in cut scene will have their names as "Viewing Cutscene" in your party list.
- If players drop right after the searchlights are switched off (just after the first cut scene) and/or before the first "boss fight", take another screen shot.
- After the completion of the dungeon, tab out of the game and open the two screen shots.
- From the screen shots, you now have the names, jobs, appearance/race, and time frame of who dropped, you can also look up the names on the FF14 website Community/Character Search page to narrow down to the exact player via their World Server (just sort by your Data Center) in-case the same name is used for different characters. You can match the character's appearance/race vs your screen shots to be sure you report the correct individual. You don't need to keep or submit those screen shots, you are just using them as a "notepad" of sorts to have all the party names and times shown.
- Copy the character name from the search page to paste into your report.
- Open your in-game menu and go Support Desk/Contact/ and report Harassment.
- Fill out with the information; Date/Time, violation description "Griefing party via dropping from active instance", paste in the character name(s) and their World Server, and submit.
The whole process should take only a few minutes tops.
Those who dropped will be punished.
You don't have to do any of that. Their names show up in the contacts section of the social tab when you get out of duty.It is an actionable offense.

They don't tell you if actions were taken against the reported people.
Sorry. You are just getting the same response everyone does.
Plus, we'd see a huge amount of people on here and reddit if they were getting suspensions over this. and so far, I havent seen a single one.
And this is the real answer. Has anyone seen a screenshot of anyone talking to a GM about using legitimate in game leave duty button? "So i see you got Steps of Faith (prenerf) and you left. We are going to have to flag your account. When you que for something we expect you to commit as if we are about to kill a Sylph."
If it was a real issue and it isn't. SE would just increase the penalty. And so you know they can set penalties separate. PvP used to be exempt from PvE meaning they have the tech to set certain penalties already in game.
This part of story needs to changed to solo instances.
But for those calling to punish and ban people who drop, sheesh, other people are not your slaves. People have free choice, and part of that free choice as a human is to decide "nah, I don't feel like doing this for a minimal XP reward". They get a penalty for leaving, it's enough.
It's not like you can't do it with half the people on autoattack.

I thought the devs already said they're reworking these instances. Been a while since the ARR cull in 5.3, I hope they're actually working on it. As much as the current exp and poetics rewards are nice, they really need to just fix these already. It's a shame they never made more 8 person dungeons, there was nothing wrong with the idea, just don't fill the new ones with cutscenes and that literally would have solved the entire issue.
Some of the Binding Coils are basically 8-player dungeons, and most of Alexander has at least a short corridor with some trash mobs and/or a mini-boss to clear. They just sorta dropped the idea from Stormblood onward.
Yeah, I know. They're still in a whole different category from dungeons but I agree that they're the closest to 8-player dungeons we've had since the MSQ duo. It's a shame they turned raids into glorified trials too, some of the vistas in Coil and Alexander are really amazing and we just don't have that anymore with the floating circle/square arenas.
They should just get rid of MSQ roulette it since ones want to complain so much about it. No big loss if they did never like it after they started forcing one to watch the cutscenes. Maybe also they should fix it so do get Castrum 99% of the time and make it a 50/50 chance. Last 2 weeks I have done it I only get Castrum.
Square Enix doesn't tell you if actions were taken, liar.
