Fatal directx error has occured, just another topic

Friend of mine got this issue with a pretty new PC.

We´ve deinstalled pretty much everything which could cause it and disabled overlays. At last we turned down the frequency of the GPU. About 2 weeks no issue, but now it happened twice again.

Any further ideas?

I apologize for the issue you are experiencing once again. Please perform a clean boot by opening the task manager and selecting the 'Start up' Tab. Disable everything, and then restart the PC. You may also want to try switching to DirectX 9 by selecting the ‘Config’ button on the launcher to see if this may help alleviate the issue. Furthermore, please be sure that Final Fantasy XIV is installed on the C: drive to prevent future errors.

Up to date, still a crash while standing around the FC house. Sadly no solution, but thx for the tip.

Thanks for the response, but i´ve some questions.

What´s the point to have it on C:? I know atleast 3 PC´s and 1 laptop, which never had any issue running it on another drive.
FF14 seems to be the only game with such an error on multiple user ends for ages now. Why is noone looking further into this?

You are using a very old Windows 10 Version, which is no longer supported (19041, May 2020 Update) since December 2021.
Please update to 19044 via Windows Update or use an Windows 10 iso and execeute setup.exe to upgrade.
Your files should be safe. Do this first.

Additionally, It could be also possible that the ASUS software and RGB system drivers causing this, cause there are extremly much installed with this unneccesary tool which you dont need:

We apologize for the delay in response to this issue. To answer your question, installing Final Fantasy XIV on the main drive which would be the C: drive is to avoid any future errors that may arise. Often at times, the game could produce an error if installed on an additional storage drive. As such, we recommend (or suggest) for it to be installed on that drive mentioned prior. Should the issue still persist, please try the following below:

- Update and reinstall the drivers for your graphics card and sound drivers (if applicable).
- (As mentioned above) Make sure that the Windows OS is fully updated.
