I'll move to GW2 if it ends up launching with all it says it does.
TBH i've yet to meet a game that promised stuff like this (Several have) and didn't end up making gameplay compromises or cutting the features.

Yeah, words are all sugar and gumdrops, but whether or not they deliver is another question entirely.

I honestly think a lot of games try to do too much with different features and end up not fully implementing things because of it. It's like cars, they get more and more complicated, but generally speaking a new model won't last 10 years opposed to a late 60's car that's still runnin today.

You made a stupid bet then, making a thread on a game forum, praising another game. What type of reaction did you expect?

That being said, you are right. FFXIV is soooo dead on the weekends, more action in the world would happy alot

guild wars 2 has the same old "go here gather X of this, kill Y of that" quest system as every other MMO, they just try to disguise it better and sprinkle it with fancy industry buzzwords like 'dynamic'. be objective.

People like killing things. I honestly don't care too much about the system that directs me to the things to kill. Though I won't complain either if something is done to punch it up a bit.

I like what GW2 is doing in this regard as well. It reminds me of Campaign only 10x better. Ive played in the Beta a bit, and was impressed with this particular part of the game. Not much of a PvP fan though, And would have liked to see a stronger effort in the presentation of the personal story, not that its bad. Its all about making good filler content that is fun and engauging really. And I think GW2 nailed it. Where as in FFXIV, if its not Endgame content (read: dungeons and primals) or main story line, then I'm really not doing anything I would consider fun. I would even go so far as too say that 90% of the content in FFXIV is just necessary evil/boring sh*t I need to do. SE could learn a thing or two about early, midgame, and filler content from GW2. On the other hand, not making it gamepad compatible was a let down (especially with only 10 skill slots, i mean c'mon). And I am not in love with no tank or healer class. I know why they did it and it makes sense for what they are trying to do, but it just feels wrong to me somehow not to have the holy trinity (healer/tank/DPS).

Something I'd like to add is that if they are adding this dynamic content in a similar manner to how they did so in the original Guild Wars, it's likely to piss some people off. Namely, they did so by instancing everything. The moment you step out of town, you were in an instance. This did mean that, depending on what quests you had active, the world outside could be monumentally different. However, a lot of players here seem to get pissed off by the concept of instancing, and it doesn't seem very feasible to have this sort of dynamic content without instancing. Not unless you make EVERY quest in the game something where you just had to be in the right place at the right time to catch it while it was going on.

GW2 is completely different from GW1. It really is dynamic content open to everyone at anytime at any level, as long as you are there. You dont talk to quest holders, you enter an area and an NPC is shouting that such in such needs to be done. You dont have to activate it, it just happens with or without you. So you can choose to participate or not. Also these events happen as a chain ov events. So at one point the dynamic event for the area might be X, then you come back a few hour late and its Y. Or you could stay in the area and complete the chain of events as they start. There are zones like in FFXI but they are very large. And multiple events can be happening at different areas with in the same zone. You get credit automatically from completing the events and you dont have to Talk to NPCs, and you get rewards based on contribution. As for what I said earlier about at any level, you get automatically scaled up or scaled down in level (not your true level) according to the event. So if your lvl 1 you can participate in level 80 content, and if you are level 80 you can participate in level 1 content. And you still get rewards/exp appropriate to your level. Keeping if fun and relevant to everyone, and not having BS like a small group of lvl 80s going to a lvl 40 event and facerolling it.

I know many people love FFXIV and pretty much no other games are on their radars, but look into what other games are offering sometimes. I see nothing wrong with taking good elements from other games and implelemting them in FFXIV. If FFXIV had the dynamic OW events GW2 is planning, then I'd be playing FFXIV and not writing this. As I said in my other post its really about providing good filler content. And everyone knows FFXIV has basically failed at this. Which hurts the rest of the game, becuase people can only do dungeons and primals so many times. Sometimes having things like a dynamic events system and minigames are a much needed and frivolous break from the same old thing.

You do realize almost every MMO forum has these sorts of suggestions when it comes to every other release, right?

    Every. Single. One.

I'm personally really going to enjoy watching the backlash when GW2 releases. People are setting their hopes way too high.
