Please tell me how what i described is the same?

Where in XIV do quests have consequences?
Where in XIV do quests have dynamic reactions and realtime adjustments?
Where in XIV do quests have any meaning other than loot?

Every quest in every game has consequences. The only thing that changes is how those consequences are revealed.
Dynamics are just another way for an old formula to feel fresh.
Quests are always about story/xp/loot, and I don't see how GW2 isn't about those three things as well.

What you're describing is a scripted quest chain. That's it. Instead of me going to an npc, getting a quest, and that quest leading to another quest, which i get from another npc, it all happens randomly while you are out and about. I'm not saying that its not a neat way to do things, but its essentially the same formula. Just a fresher way of presenting it. It makes the world feel more alive. Is it fundamentally different? Not really. Does it feel different? Apparently so. The latter is all that really matters. Instead of quest chaining through scripted npcs, you quest chain through scripted events generated through rng. After you've done it 50 times, and the new presentation wears off, it will start to feel no different than quest chaining in any other game. GW2 just cuts out the middle-man and all that exposition, and lets the action/events dictate how quests unfold. It makes sense, since this generation of rpgers are more about action and less about all that exposition stuff. We like to see things not read them/imagine them. The old school style relied heavily on player imagination and exposition, but GW2 is keeping up with the times. Still, a quest-chain is a quest-chain, and scripted events are scripted events no matter how you dress them up.

Wow the SE Defense Force is showing its presence today, and from BG no less......... curious. Fine you guys are so right, the game is perfect as is, nothing needs to be change. FFXIV is such perfection that there isnt even room for improvement. LOL, this is madness.

I dont know why this has to be an issue where people show up to call down this type of idea. Maybe you guys just havent played it but its just fun............. just fun guys. Is there something wrong with trying to add fun to this game, or does eveything have to be hard as nails and ridiculously tough? Is there no room for frivolity and filler content?

Also, fine get your popcorn ready, it doesnt matter. There will be other people that will complain or not like it at launch (cant please everyone) But I know I at least will like it. Not only because I have played it, but I have in the past devoted much time (read: endless hours) to Campaign. Not becuase I had to do it, but because it was non-stop fun. And all I'd like is something like this introduced to FFXIV. Unfortunately the way it is looking, at least for now, is that I will only log onto FFXIV for endgame activities, story, and things like job quests and company quests, but the rest of the time I'll be playing GW2 for something fun and engauging in the down time.

someone points out something objectively, and you respond with straw man and ad hominem fallacies. great way to solidify the validity of your point, hoss. but in the meantime, go ahead and quote where i'm defending square enix against anything, where i've ever called it perfect, where i've ever said anything never needed to be changed. intentionally ignore all the valid criticism i've heaped against the game since launch (even today, in other threads) because it's inconvenient and undermines your feeble position. and finally, do explain what my LS has to do with my opinions... or anything whatsoever.

i'm trying really hard not to find ways to call you stupid. so help me out by giving me reasons not to.

After centaurs attacked a village (we lost the event) and broke through one of the walls, the NPCs went out and gathered materials and repaired the wall in real time, complete with voice acted dialogue. If we had driven the centaurs off, the outcome would have been completely different and likely opened up new quests. And that's just one event of hundreds all throughout the game world.

It's that kind of thing that makes the world feel alive and dynamic. Would you HONESTLY not want to see things like that in XIV?
if the dialogue is 'voice acted in real time', explain to me how the content is dynamic. are the voice actors sitting there in studio, drinking coffee and eating donut holes, just WAITING for the conclusion of the event so they can act it out live, just for you and a handful of other players?

sounds more like a bunch of stuff was planned and finished ahead of time, thrown in a pot, and a random number generator pulls out those finished bits to piece together into a 'dynamic' event.

    seriously. think about it.

You try to find reason's to not call someone stupid yet it seems like you've never read the article and are blowing smoke out of a few orifices.
These are just some of the thousands of events we've designed in Guild Wars 2, where every action taken by the players will have direct, visible, cause and effect in the game world.
Not hundreds, thousands. Where in XIV do we have thousands of events that have direct cause and effect? We don't. I'm simply suggesting to SE that it might be a good idea to learn some things from their competitors; and yes GW2 will be a FULL competitor to XIV. Hell; maple story has more players and income I think at this point.

Seriously, who here is acting like a fool. And look who is being ridiculous now. Your criticism is not valid at all. You somehow arent getting it, and I'm having a hard time understanding why you have such a negative opinion of it. Did you not like Campaign in FFXI? If you didnt then to each there own, but I liked it better than some endgame in FFXI. I do apologize for lumping you in with the SEDF, but why are you so against it? What is your investment in this argument? What are you trying to prove other than that you obviously think the idea is bad or not different? So far the arguments you have presented seem thin to me, like you are trying to really reach to make it sound bad, or that you want it to fail for the sake of your own satisfaction. All I see is either people doing the typical SEDF bullsh*t, or in your case Fusional maybe you just like to cause trouble? All I want is fun frivolus things added to FFXIV. Never mind what or how those are implemented. Answer truthfully please Fusional, can you at least agree that these type of things are needed?

I'm not trying to attack XIV, I'm very much looking forward to 2.0 and wouldn't want it to flat-out-copy any other game. The current world is just very lifeless.

I support any small changes they can make to make it feel more alive and immersive, even if those are just "buzzwords" and immersion is an illusion, and even if it means taking a look at what other games are doing.
