    Company Features / Linkshell Features

    Ok, I don't know if this is the right place since the general assumption is that Companies will act with advanced features then the current link shell system, I figured this would be a good area to post this and hope that we'll see some of this in game.

    Since the dev team stated early back in the day that companies are like their own "guild" I'm hoping we will see some of the following features built into the company system. However, if they are not, then please build these items into the linkshell system.
    1. Company Level - I think it would be very interesting to have the company level up as a whole. As players do things such as invite, or level up, they contribute to the overall level of the company itself. As the company levels up more features are unlocked, or expanded thus motivating players to work together. The xp gained for companies by the players would be a small % of the xp that they gain for doing things such as crafting, or battling monsters. (Just a visual example: You get 1200 xp for killing one monster, the company gets 12xp) Something small, but with everyone working together adds up to building the company itself.
    2. SE already talked about companies owning ships and buildings, but I would also like to see a bank system added for items as well as money - This being optional and if the level system was introduced would only open up after a certain level. The company leaders would have the option to turn this bank on or off, so that if they want to use it they could. The bank would allow players to share resources without the need to use a player mule. - The size of the bank would increase after the company reaches a certain level and perhaps paying a fee.
    3. Taxing members - An optional feature would allow for the company to tax its members and have the money deposit into the company bank. There would be a limit on how much one could be taxed, but it would apply to anything sold to NPCs or to a retainer, but shouldn't apply to your retainer itself. Also any gil gained via a enemy drop would be taxed as well. This would be set by the leadership of the company, and (personally) shouldn't be anything higher then 10%.
    4. A calender or company event system would be a nice feature that would allow players to view, schedule, etc events in game, and players could see those events and be notified when they are about to start.

    If anyone else has any additions please add them.

    I'd expect company to work in a similar way of FFTA guilds.

    A guild will have the overall rank and a rank on several attributes. As you complete company quests you will raise the company ranks, which unlocks higher (and harder) content.

    Being able to have our own ship will be awesome, specially if, instead of spending tremendous amounts of gil, they make it like "you can have it IF you can build one" They giving a monstruous list of materials and, once you get them all (including some exclusive stuff...i'd hate to see people, instead of buying a ship just buying all parts...would be a shame since would have no merit in this) you receive your ship.

    Same working for the building...like being able to have several features there, like the already said bank, build guild facilities for members only (a guild in Ul'dah with Woodworking guild facility would be awesome), customize the place, add a wanted board for members and even allowing expansion of guild size based on its rank.

    In an extreme way, allowing companies to offer their own leves at guildleve corner (obviously in a separated NPC) when they, as example, don't have the needed crafter, would be awesome too!

    But still, need more info before we can do more than just toss random guesses.

    I don't think companies should at all be based on XP, but rather things like achievements. If you had a company rank that was based on the sum total of all the achievements of everyone in the company against all possible achievements, you'd probably have a realistic view of the overall rank of the company.

    Imagine there are 1000 achievements possible (stuff like hitting r50 in a class, etc).
    Imagine the company cap is 100, and the max company rank is 100.

    If my company has 50 people, each with 500 achievements, I have a total of 25000 achievements out of a possible 100000. My company is then ( company achievements / max achievements ) * max rank or ( 25000 / 100000 ) * 100 or rank 25.

    Thus, in order to hit max level, you would need 100 people who had done everything there is to do in the game in your company, something that is probably impossible (and so this becomes something that is never really able to be completed, something to always strive for).

    i like the idea that our ranks go up threw achievments rather then our levels. that would make it more fun, and the ls would be working together to achieve all of them.

    adding company quests and missions that open new content and endgame, high points can reward us with being able to do dungeons or leves more times a week, like rather then 2 limbus runs it opens option for a 3rd run in same week.

    single man achievements, company achievements as a hole. i still dont' have a picture on what the ships will be doing outside of pve on them? maybe pvp ships vs ships at some point?

    take flights and kill hords of pve mobs like the skellies in ffxi boats and nm's pop captains of ships and stuff. sounds very fun. higher our ranks the more nm's and maybe more farther out into the vast lands we can go with our ship. perhaps nm's that drop parts for ships in the world and on the ship battles?

    don't like the idea of taxes in a game where all the mobs don't drop coin like in warhammer. gils are easy to make now but in reality it is a bitch to make it later. on that maybe coins like limbus that come from company rewards that u buy stuff with from gear to extra buffs u don't get outside of being on the ship battles like canon attacks(gives u a aoe knockback) or buying ship only weapons(maybe that can be also for out of ship but company rewards of highest levels or nms).

    hmm maybe we get to land on islands with mobs and nm's or something lol. i like the idea that i read that dol and doh maybe get to craft ship parts and housing stuff. maybe we all get a room in our house. but we all can run around in our undies in it.

    I would love it they implemented this!!!! It would encourage all the DOL and DOH to work together and then DOW/DOM can farm the shards/crystals required, meaning not matter what class you are you will be able to have an input.

    So if companies are going to be a more advanced linkshell, whats the point of a linkshell then? I think linkshells will get scrapped, unless companies are like an alliance of different linkshells and much, much bigger.

    LS = small group of friends willing to chitchat. Supposed to be a 10- members stuff.

    Company = big deal. You're supposed to have only one, supposed to do missions and events based on it...i'd say it will be, pretty much, the "real" allegiance of your character. Probably the faction ranks might be related to companies too, like turfs control at FFTA and nation control at FFXI.

    However...i wonder if anyone will be able to actually create a company (assuming an obscene amount of gil for it if so) or if we will join one of several previously created companies, Sahaleen Sentinels-style, where you can grow in theirs ranks once you join and gets it reseted if you leave.

    No, I have 2x 128 member full linkshells and we do party, leves, and hunt NMs. The only difference with companies seems like it is the achievements, ranks, ships, and buildings.

    I mean why don't they just give linkshells the same things that companies are going to get and call it a day? I could barely keep up with battle and multiple linkshell chats going on, not to mention you have to switch linkshells manually to respond. Now, its going to be mad confusing with company spam.

    from what im reading here.. i can see companies having a big decision in turf wars like a previous poster says.. controlling the aetheryte camps, reward? less anima to tele and/or control an aetheryte gate further down.. this could be one of the best/confusing conquest modes implemented....
