The idea is that classes be abolished, if they can't outright scrap them they can turn them into jobs. At 30 you can choose to unlock PLD or just stick to GLA but now GLA gets a quest at 30 for a new ability, another @35 then 40 then at 45 starts unlocking its own unique AF.

Should you do this what happens to PLD? personally I'd like to see it be unlocked @30 and go from there, the whole GLA 50 unlocking PLD gets a lv50 PLD from the start is too "easy". (And yes I'm willing to get my battle levels bombed down to 1 if it means getting a better system)

For argument's sake call the pre lv30 class "Swordsman" that can go either PLD or GLA, and both start off at lv30 and even after you cap both if you remove the stone you go back into being a lv30 Swordsman and that's where its capped. the easy-mode equip anything class stays 30, and if you want to go further pick a job and level it up.

so after 30, would these classes not share abilities anymore or what?

and now we'd have to level each job from 30 to 50. I'm curious how many people would want this and how many wouldn't. We already have all the other classes to think about. Doing this would basically amount to adding grind.

I dunno man. It seems people argue that classes are useless as is, but isn't a class that's designed to be thrown away at 30 a little more useless.

I fear we are just going to talk ourselves in circles, but if you want to give gladiators some job skills, why not just make that set of skills into a job of its own and leave gladiator as it is

I'm not totally against your idea as I'm sure it could work, I just don't think it's that much different from what we have, or what could potentially be done with the system we have.

If I got my way I'd just go back to the FFXI formula with WAR THF WHM BLM RDM MNK PLD DRK SAM NIN DRG SMN etc etc and discard classes and the whole cross class ability gimmick all together but its semi-impossible to do without nuking the battle system and the levels people made already, which would cause so much drama if that happened.

Next best thing is to turn classes into jobs and make them unique so both will be usable instead of jobs overshadowing classes.

I see no point in having classes when you have jobs (Lets face it, the main argument for classes is "I want Cure and Stoneskin" and maybe the now less cross-class friendly sentinel) and always been against the cross class abilities in its original and current status (cap everything or you suck, change jobs mid event, get this ability from that class or you're nothing etc) I also have major issues with targeting (why can I target myself with a weapon skill? really?) the active/passive mode gimmick and the clunky battle system (why click F? why not just double click a mob?) even when compared to older games let alone the new wave of MMOs like TERA (amazing battle system and smooth UI with almost no lag).

I want this game to succeed, I really do but the flaws and residue from the old FFXIV concepts need to go first.
