Hello FFXIV community,

I don't write really often subjects here, but the updates that came up with the game lastely kinda pushed me to write this. I am sure much people, devs, and may be all the team already think to what i am thinking, but i prefer to put theses ideas in all mind to check if it's any good.

A fact that FFXIV is really original here among other mmorpg with his many jobs / standard classes.
But let's say it, it became a bit fuzzy lastely. Today people tend to choose jobs over standards because it's said sharper and more specific. Sure we have on the other side the "paladin" issue, but it's another story i won't discuss here...
Then we got this try from FFXIVdevs with gear only for ARC/PUG/THM/CONJ/MAR/LNC/GLAD which somewhere have the purpose to give them some kind of credit. But well i think it's (really) far from enough...

So i was thinking with many others, it would be clever to give them even more specific things to dig a gap really much bigger and much interresting to play. This could go with that kind of specific gear fore sure but i was thinking more about exclusive abilities that jobs can't get. The aim is to finish with something like "Hey what do you prefer, I take BRD you take ARC? What do you know the best?" or "BRD can X and ARC can Y" like if there were 2 separate entities that borrow the same weapon.

If by statement SE decide jobs are more sharp, more biased... then all these standards classes could get some other things jobs don't have, may be support, generals or alternatives uses of the jobs... I could be a good point to go with a classes instead of a job. I am not talking about spells you can already steal to other classes, but really something basically new.

Also they could add some restrictives things to force people to choose (may be less fun at some points of view) : "Team can't enter in this donjon if 2 people got a same job."

I really think SE have to make a good choice for that : Poursue with original stuff to have 2 différent choice for one weapon, or stick with one unique use. But for sure, to conclude if we still always say in 2.0 "Take War, it's better then MRD" or "Job is evolution of standard class" there is a fail somehow to my mind...

What's your point of view about that?
