I can sort of agree with this. Early in the game's lifespan I toyed with the idea of creating macros that explain boss mechanics whenever it was needed. However, even in just ARR this became hard to image sustaining. I haven't even seen these of macros since then. However, consider the reasons you may want to use a macro:

    - Crafting
    - Hunts
    - Accessibility (goes a long way to making the game enjoyable)
    - Advertisements (statics, RP, etc.)
    - Job changing (depending on your hotbar utilization, BLU, for example, or assigning Eureka gear and equipment)
    - Job syncing (for commonly used actions/reworks)
    - Roleplay
    - Mechanic explanation
    - Job actions (quite rare now, but some people still use party messages for raises, invulns, and DRG may still (sadly) want a macro)

I'm sure I am missing some usages. The commands you can use in a macro or the complexity of the macro system are not reasons to not add more space for macros. A lot of text-only macros exist and if you are invested in the game from a multitude of angles you will utilize macros in more ways than you thought you might.

That said, perhaps they are relying on third party tools to fill in these gaps (even if PS4/5 players are left out for the most part aside from hardware macros + keyboard).
